Today we’d like to introduce you to Eunsook Choi.
Eunsook, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I graduated high school and quickly got a job in a corporation in Korea. I met my husband there and we moved to US. I was traditional housewife supporting the husband and raising two children. My husband was an executive in multinational corporation.
When there was a corporate event, I would meet my husband’s colleagues’ wives and they would look down on me because I didn’t go to college. So with my broken English at that time, I went to college. I was eager and motivated. I gave my absolute best and enjoyed. When I felt that grade was not appropriate, I always met with professors and I was persistent at times. After four years, I graduated as a valedictorian with degree in design.
Couple years later, I founded a small staffing company in Dalton, GA servicing carpet industry. Then the business grew, I opened another office in LaGrange, GA servicing automotive industry. Business was established, I was able to hire some talented people who are more eager and more motivated than I am. In the last three years, we opened 4 more offices in GA and AL.
In the meantime, I started a home health care agency to help patients who face cultural and language barrier, unable to navigate healthcare system.
Now staffing company has over 1000 employees, and healthcare company with 100 employees, recognized in Asian community.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There were many struggles. Clients leaving, key employees leaving, law suits, etc. Too many to mention in here. One of the most significant was accumulated stress caused my body to ache severely. Bones and muscle to be in constant pain, skin to break down.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Joynus Care, Inc. – what should we know?
I gave 3/4 of my company to my employees last year for their achievement. what I am most proud of as a company is that we never focus on greed for money, rather focus on greed for great service.
Without many words, I try to lead by example. I focus on company culture, I serve my employees who serve our clients. We have long standing retention especially among key employees.
None of this would be possible if we didn’t grow. Thankfully, our growth rate is bigger every year. We stopped advertising because we have many people calling us for help.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I thank God. I thank my family and friends. I thank all the hard working, talented people in my company. They are all talented than I am. I’ve always tried to hire people who are better than me and let them be free.
