Meet Jennifer Vu of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in Buckhead and Brookhaven

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Vu.

Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started in real estate about four years after deciding I needed a career change. I took night classes to earn my license and worked another job before I was able to grow my business into a full-time career. I specialized in real estate in Gwinnett county since I grew up there, but made the move back in town about a year ago.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think there is a common misconception that real estate is a career to fall back on. Yes, real estate can be fun, but people fail to realize the crazy hours we work or put in. I work almost every weekend and it’s very stressful at times dealing with so many moving parts and so many things that can go wrong.

The current market has completely redefined how real estate is sold. There is an expectation to be there for clients and jump on a great house when it comes to market, which sometimes mean a 9am showing on a Sunday morning when your kids are sleeping in.

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Berkshire Hathaway is one of the top brokerages in Atlanta and it’s great to be a part of a company that has been in the Atlanta market for over 50 years. I think the best thing about my business is my commitment to providing great service. I take the time to get to know my clients, their needs, their backstory. It’s an amazing feeling to get to closing with my clients and know that they will make lasting memories in their new home.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I think success is such a hard thing to define especially as a woman. I would say success is finding balance and being happy in accepting imperfection. As women, we want to have a great career, be a great mother, friend, daughter, and partner. It’s impossible to be 100% at all those things everyday but I feel successful trying my best to be as many things that I can fit in!
