Meet Trailblazer Keshara Rosser

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keshara Rosser.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Keshara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story began with a rough upbringing where we lacked resources, positive influences, and had minimal income. Although things eventually got better for my family financially, I still lacked proper guidance and mentorship. As a teenager, I began to seek validation in the wrong places, which resulted in me becoming a mother at the age of 15.

As I transitioned into young adulthood, I wanted to use my experiences to inspire others to push through adversity regardless of their circumstances. My husband and children were my main inspirations in starting my blog ‘The Goode, The Bad, & The Ugly’ as a platform to share my experiences, both good and bad, with others. I wanted to display to them that despite my struggles, I was able to excel in life and to encourage others in similar positions.

With the increasing positive feedback from my blogs, I made the decision to establish my nonprofit organization, Power Forward Outreach, Inc. I utilized my nonprofit to provide services and mentorship to at-risk teenaged girls in order to change their story of a potentially negative life trajectory.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road was not smooth at all! Throughout my teenage and young adult life, I was constantly criticized and belittled. As a single teenage mother, I worked hard and sacrificed a lot to maintain good grades in order to graduate high school and attend college to obtain my bachelor’s and Masters. I sacrificed a lot in life to get to where I am today.

I started Power Forward Outreach from the ground up and it took a lot of hard-working and researching to ensure that everything was done properly. While dedicating the time to establish this foundation, I was also upholding the roles of a wife, a mother, student and working full-time. For other young women starting their journey, I would say follow your heart and trust yourself! I’d also recommend networking with others as much as possible to help uplift you along the way.

We’d love to hear more about Power Forward Outreach.
So currently, outside of being a wife and mother of two, I am continually working to grow Power Forward Outreach, Inc. In addition to these roles, my husband and I have a private practice; We Climb Counseling & Consulting, LLC., where we provide mental health services to individuals, families, & groups.

As the founder of Power Forward Outreach, I have established the mission to empower young women by equipping them with the necessary life skills needed to break barriers and open doors to a brighter future. We strive to provide teen girls, ages 13-19, with a supportive community and services required to get their lives on the right path to achieve their full potential.

I am most proud of Power Forward Outreach for inspiring young girls to live their truth and not allow others to place them under a glass ceiling. We strive to ensure that all young girls know there are no limits to what they can achieve, regardless of their upbringing. I would have to say one thing that sets me apart from others is my drive. I have been blessed with the gift of helping others, and the dedication that I put into my community with juggling each of my other roles and responsibilities is remarkable.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
I had a fear of failure when thinking of starting Power Forward Outreach and wasting all of the time and resources that I put into it. Advice that I would give to other young women who aspire to start a business is to not be afraid to step out on faith. There is no growth in comfort and you have to be willing to be uncomfortable for a period of time in order to get to where you want to be.
