Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Davis.
Brittney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In March of 2017, I invited some of my female friends to go hiking with lunch and wine. I asked them all to invite a friend or two and we would hike, chat and enjoy the great outdoors. We had a BLAST so we made it a once a month event. We would post amazing pics on Facebook and Instagram and it caused more women to gain interest in our group. We grew from 17 ladies to over 200 ladies in two years.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For the most part, it has been smooth. The only real challenge has been members joining who are not physically able to complete the hikes.
Please tell us about your business.
Well, I am a Realtor by day and Hiker by weekend lol. Ladies Who Hike is a paid membership-based group that brings positive women together in the great outdoors. We mostly hike in Alabama. However, once a year, we take an out of state trip. 98% of our members are African American; however, we are all-inclusive to all ethnicities. I am most proud of the friendships that are developed by the women in the group. I believe #ladieswhohike is set apart because we are the largest all female hiking group in Alabama.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I do plan to expand #ladieswhohike to other cities and states in the near future.
