Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleatha Parrish.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a native New Yorker from the city Rochester where I was born and raised. I’ve had the privilege to work in the Health care field for 13 years and I currently serve as a Mental Health Tech Professional. I believe serving people I gained a desire to help others.
While working in the Mental Health Field, I pursued and received my cosmetology license. Unfortunately working in the hair care field did not work out at that time, however I knew deep down I had a passion to be a business owner, I wasn’t sure what type of business I wanted to start.
In 2012, I was married moved to Cleveland Ohio. As a stay at home wife I started studying and learned about healthier eating habits and I began to change my diet. Learned about plant-based foods, herbs and how it affects different parts of the body. Through studying and researching from all available outlets including YouTube videos and from other instructors like the great Dr. Sebi and other mentors.
I knew this was my calling, I felt a spiritual and healing process for me to pursue. I changed my lifestyle by becoming a vegetarian, which I practiced for six years. At the time, I only prepared meals with nothing but organic ingredients, and that led me to experiment with different ingredients and developed natural plant-based hair care products. I no longer practice the vegetarian lifestyle, however I still maintain those same principles today.
Over the next three years, I tested out my natural plant-based hair products on myself and friends and family. I began to see positive results with my hair as well as my family. In the past I had major issues with my hair, I experienced hair loss primarily from using perms and all those toxic chemicals like many others were told to use but was absolutely bad for my hair. I decided I would no longer use chemicals products and began work on myself inside and out.
Since I was seeing such tremendous results on faith I decided to sell my products to the public. I learned how to market online, I started to gain clients and selling my products at vendor events. My clients were starting seeing major improvements in their hair journey. With the success I was having, in 2017 I then returned to my hometown in Rochester, NY to expand my business. With continued success, I knew there was more in store for me, with another faith move, I packed up my car and moved to Atlanta, GA in the summer of 2018 where I am continuing to expand my business.
Relocating was not easy process, I took another role in the mental health field. To re-launch my business, I had to self-invest and with no loans and a lot of sacrifices. I had to give up. It was a scary and lonely process since I had to pay bills and live. I didn’t know how I was going to keep up with inventory and all the expenses you have to take in as having and running a small business. I definitely went through highs and lows almost gave up. I didn’t want to let myself down and my clients. I knew that there was a lot of people experiencing alopecia, hair loss, and other hair issues. I knew this was my calling to help women, men, and children who are dealing with hair deficiencies.
God blessed me with a mate that totally supports me, with his love and support I now have clients all over the country and my products are helping and seeing results across the board.
In 2020, I intend to continue expand my business online and participate in vendor events here is Atlanta. Stay tuned there is more in store.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
