Meet Kevin Bellinger of Kevin’s Events Floral & Decor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Bellinger.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kevin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
This journey actually began while serving in the US Army. One of my friends knew someone who was getting married and needed some bouquets. They asked if I could make them and before I knew what I said, yes came out of my mouth. (Never touched a flower before.) The bride loved the flowers. My dear friend back home got wind of it and asked me to do her wedding, from decor to day of coordinating. Once I got discharged from the military and came home everyone started asking and I was never able to say the word “No”.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life is easy. Starting out with no clue in what I was doing, I would dig into my own wallet to ensure that my client’s events were special. I did not feel comfortable charging what it was worth. So at times my house would go lacking to bring joy to others. (That had to change quickly!) Outside of pricing one of the toughest moments I’ve faced as a business owner was the loss of my 1st client who invested in me the true value of their event. After a little over a year of marriage, the couple along with two of their kids were killed in a car accident. The relationships I build with my clients go well past their event day, we’re connected for life. This was a day that I will never forget.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Kevin’s Events Floral & Decor, LLC – what should we know?
Kevin’s Events Floral & Decor is a full-service design and planning company based out of Aiken, SC. We specialize in everything events; from weddings, birthday celebrations, retirement functions, corporate events, end of life celebrations and so much more. We celebrate all of life’s moments. Our services include event management, day of coordination, vendor search, event design, and floristry. I am grateful for the journey that God has me on and the ability to chart our growth. Starting out working from home and having my mother’s living room covered with flowers the eve before an event to now having our own studio with a roadside marquee. The sky is truly the limit to the possibilities. Our ability to be multifaceted in terms of service, as well as our commitment to client relations is what sets us apart. My staff knows that response time is everything to me. All of our clients value you that.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Having the ability to be personable and reachable. In this industry, you have to be able to connect with your clients. Understanding that they are entrusting you with life’s most precious moments, you have to connect with them. Clients love being connected, them knowing that you are there to assist in anyway and not just collect a check is what keeps them coming. Being humble and acknowledging God in all things has been the tool to my success. It’s a gift that He gave me.
