Meet Krystal Tuck of Muse Salon and Spa in John’s Creek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Tuck.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Krystal. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always loved anything hair + makeup! As a young child, I was in dance, and I think that’s where it all started. As I got older, I became so in love with the live red carpet shows before award shows. The hair, the makeup, the fashion. To this day, I still get so excited to sit back and watch it all! I remember helping my friends with their hair and makeup for homecomings and proms through high school! After high school, I had no idea what path I wanted to take. I didn’t think regular college was for me. At 21, I moved from Bradenton, Florida to Alpharetta, Georgia and started working the front desk while doing makeup at a hair salon up the road from where I lived. It was shortly after that, I finally made the decision to go to hair school! I wanted to be on the floor getting my hands dirty. Not just standing behind the desk. Best decision ever!

After graduating hair school and assisting for a year, I decided to move to another salon where I could see myself growing! In 2014 I started working at Muse Salon and Spa! I assisted the owner, Daniel Mason-Jones who taught me so many amazing things but most of all, how to hustle! After assisting Daniel for two years, I went on the floor as a level 1 stylist! I quickly built my books and moved up to a level 3… Between that time, I got married and we had our first daughter! After having my daughter, I came back working three days a week! Moved up to a level 4 and hired an associate to help me grow my books even more! Last year, after hiring an associate and working three days a week, I was able to move up to a level 5 and double my salary! I never thought I would be where I am today! Working at Muse has been a dream come true! The support from Daniel and Jody (the owners) and all of my coworkers is endless. We are one big family! If you are wanting to pursue your career as a hairstylist and want to be a part of an amazing culture (which is very hard to find in this industry) I suggest you come check out Muse Salon and Spa!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of my personal challenges along the way were not getting the education I needed to feel confident with certain things. After making the decision to change salons and learn from the best in the industry I was able to conquer those struggles and fears along the way!

Muse Salon and Spa – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Muse Salon and Spa has grown so much in the six years that I’ve been there! I do everything hair and makeup related there but I specialize in balayage! When I went on the floor as a level 1 stylist, I immediately started using my balayage skills. I have perfected those skills along the way and now my clients come to me specifically for balayage! I wouldn’t want it any other way! If I could just hair paint all day, everyday, I would be a very happy and lucky lady! I take a lot of pride in my work and my clients notice that! I genuinely care about the health of my client’s hair while still giving them the results they are looking for. My clients trust me and at the end of the day that’s truly all that matters! I am so very thankful to have such loyal clients who believe in me and listen to all of the advice I give them on how to create the looks I give them at home! Whether it’s using the right products or how to use styling tools.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Personally, I define success by creating and customizing a different look for each and every client. Seeing the smile on their faces, lets me know I’ve succeeded. If I’ve done that then I know from that moment, there’s nowhere to go but up! It’s also very important to me to mentor and give my associate everything she needs to prepare her for going on the floor and becoming a successful stylist!
