Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisa Carson.
Marisa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a former athlete (swimmer) so working out and being healthy was always super important to me. When I was out of college, I started to really hit a rough patch. I was so lost with myself and the relationships I had with people around me were solely based on partying and how late we could stay out. I remember looking at myself in the mirror one morning and I was the heaviest and saddest I’d ever been. I just looked so defeated and so much like a stranger. I had no idea who was looking back at me. I vowed to myself that day that I would never get back to this point and it was time to lace up my shoes and get back to work. I focused on myself and got to where I needed and wanted to be. Then I fell in love with helping others fall in love with themselves. I’m still working on making this my full-time career but I’m a lot closer to that now than I have been. I really want people to know that it’s okay to be lost and that you can come back from whatever is weighing you down. I love training people because pushing yourself physically is so amazing, but the mental transformations are even better.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been the easiest and that’s mostly because I’ve been scared to make the leap to make personal/group training my main career. Now that I’m on that right mental track, I cannot wait to dedicate all of my time to helping others.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with MarsCars Fitness – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I personally train and group train kids and adults. I specialize in HIIT (high intensity interval training) training with weightlifting elements. My boyfriend and I opened a wrestling training facility in July (Roundtree Wrestling Academy) and have been doing some speed and agility training with the young athletes also. I’m so proud to know that where I was seven years ago led me to where I am now and that journey gave me the passion to help others learn how to fall in love with themselves and with what their bodies can do for them. I think what sets me apart from others is the fact that I really pay attention to the needs of clients and I make sure to really program workouts and plans to client goals.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love how close-knit the city of Braselton is. Every small business is constantly looking out for one another. There really isn’t anything I don’t like about living here! It’s a nice change of pace from the heart of Atlanta where we moved from.
