Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Turner.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Pamela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a youth growing up in a military family, athleticism was embedded into my life from my father being in the Army. I was fortunate enough, to have the privilege to be introduced to many different sports such as gymnastics and track & field while being stationed abroad with my family in Wuerzburg, Germany. The first sport I was introduced to while being there was gymnastics, I was twelve years old when I started; all events were my favorite. While participating in gymnastics and track & field, I was afforded the opportunity to compete all over Europe. I learned from both sports having faith, working hard, dedication, discipline, and staying physically fit I could achieve any of my goals.
Fast Forward to 2010.
After seeing a picture that was not too flattering of me, overweight at 165 lbs., out of shape and always exhausted and unhealthy. I was six years out of a divorce and traveling for work weekly, so I was eating unhealthy and was unable to exercise due to my busy work schedule. I began to do research on how to eat differently and how to exercise more efficiently to get the weight off since this was not my natural weight. I weighed 165 pounds!!! The last time I weight that much, was when I was pregnant with my twin boys in 1994.
In 2010, I started my journey of researching and experimenting with different diet plans, exercise programs; I felt defeated. I tried every diet and I mean everything out there. From Slimfast, Weight Watchers, etc, I did it! My fitness journey has been like a roller-coaster series of trials, many errors, and a collection of achievements along the way, ultimately leading to more weight than I ever expected to gain. Despite, all I continue to my journey to where I was comfortable with my overall fitness and health.
In 2015, I competed in my first Bikini Bodybuilding Competition. I got my weight down all the way to 120 pounds. I have to this day competed in 7 competitions and have been doing personal training along the way. I love everything about fitness. Today, my walkaround weight is whatever I want it to be and I feel good about it.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been very challenging, and it hasn’t always been smooth, yet educational and exciting all at the same time. The transition of constantly traveling with my job, finding different ways to motivate myself to exercise regularly, and eating healthy. I can honestly say for me the food was the biggest struggle…. But it was a beautiful thing when I mastered both, which has allowed me to able to get to where I am today.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Today, I specialize in working and teaching boot camps, one on one training, small group training, nutrition advice, and now online fitness training is now available for all the Coco Babes out there. The goal in the future is to have the opportunity to work with different nonprofit organizations and partner up with other health gurus that are helping to lead the movement to empower youth and adults to be active players in creating a healthier future for themselves. Additionally, I am currently working on creating and building my own YouTube channel on health and wellness. Stay tuned.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Having faith has played a role in my life. Believing in what I am doing in helping others to achieve health and wellness is my calling. I am proud of what I do because I am helping those who are investing in their health and wellness. They invest in me and I invest in them.
