Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivy Cofield.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started out as a confused college student, trying to find my passion. All my life, I have had an interest in owning my own business but never really knew exactly what type of business I would start. While struggling in college, I began to discover my love for fashion. I became really consistent with posting cute outfits on social media, so much that I was eventually contacted by a company that was willing to pay me to post outfits and tag each item so that others could shop my wardrobe. Once I realized I was creating a profit for other clothing companies, I knew I could make a profit for myself by starting my own clothing brand. This process was not as easy as I imagined it to be. I had no guidance or anyone to help me figure this industry out. After about two full years of research, trial and error, investing, and traveling to learn the fashion business, Eden Shop LLC was born in September 2019. Even though I learned how to start a business, I am still learning new lessons every single day.
In the beginning, orders would come in twice a week, now I am averaging 10-20 orders per day. Learning different marketing tools and discovering more ways to advertise my products has really helped boost sales. The process is very tiring and there were many times I wanted to give up thinking, “the thought of this was cool but I can’t REALLY do this”. Luckily I persisted and continued to grow my knowledge of the fashion industry, One of my main goals along with the business is to show young girls they can do anything they put their mind to, as cliche as it sounds. I beat many odds that were against me, and I want all young entrepreneurs to know they can too!
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a very trying road. Some of the struggles include: Learning how to obtain business licenses and permits. Learning how to create a functional selling website. Learning how to contact clothing manufactures, distributors, wholesalers, seamstresses, etc. Creating a business budget with my own money. Having great ideas that don’t turn out how you imagined (I started two different LLC’s prior to Eden Shop LLC that I hoped would work and they did not). Establishing a target market while actually getting them engaged to my site/social media platforms. Establishing the right logos and marketing for the brand. Once the business starts growing in sales it’s difficult to manage being a one woman shop. I eventually had to quit the 9-5 job I had that initially funded my business. I wasn’t having enough time to fulfill orders and handle all of the accounting and advertising associated with my business. I am still a one woman shop until I can find a reliable team to help out.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Eden Shop LLC – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Eden Shop LLC is a women’s apparel company. Our mission statement: “We are committed to producing exclusive, high-quality women’s apparel. Our mission is to provide clothes that inspire all women to embrace their unique style, effortlessly.”
As a company, I am most proud of the BRAND I have created. My logo represents a lot to me, I spend a lot of time creating content for my brand and I have realized customers appreciate that. They are excited to post their custom packaging once they receive their orders. I get many compliments on the “aesthetic” of my brand and that lets me know I am doing something right.
I believe my brand is way different from other fashion companies because we do not sell just anything. Most fashion brands right now are all selling the same styles and not really offering anything exclusive. There is a lot of effort put into my brand and I believe that shows.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like Atlanta because it’s full of hustlers. Filled with people trying to make names for themselves, it’s inspiring. I know more entrepreneurs in Atlanta than anywhere else.
I would say it is kind of hard to get support from the people in Atlanta. Most of my customers are from states/countries other than the one I live in, I find that weird.
