Meet Larry Lipman of Fun Team Building

Today we’d like to introduce you to Larry Lipman.

Larry, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My very first job was a bailiff in Atlanta City Traffic Court. In the 70’s, I became an Algebra & Geometry teacher and coached tennis and basketball. I was also Director of summer camp Aquatics programs at Camp Sea Gull in North Carolina.

During the 80’s, I became an actor on TV and TV commercials.

After attending over a dozen Train-The-Trainer seminars and workshops, I created my current career as a Success Coach. I have been specializing in Team Building for the past 27 years — and loving every second of it!

Has it been a smooth road?
The only struggle was being President of the Late Bloomers Club! I found my true calling in life when I was 40 years old, and I haven’t looked back. I am grateful every day that I am doing what I love and loving what I do.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Fun Team Building – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I started Fun Team Building in 1990 and the guiding mission is helping teams improve. I work with corporations, companies, teachers, nurses — any group of 12 – 1,500. I get called when teams need a miracle! Examples include: stressed out, burned out, whiners, complainers, overwhelmed, not communicating, not working as a team, unmotivated, resistant to change, complacent, dysfunction, and low morale.

Typical outcomes after a day of Team Building include: leadership skills, communication skills, trust, cooperation, problem-solving, accountability, integrity, appreciation, welcoming change, collaboration, handling negative people, and celebrating life. We learn to kick out blame and to choose our attitude. Participants leave inspired and empowered.

My programs are all about learning while having fun! A typical day includes my facilitating a variety of team building activities that engage participants immediately.

Groupings involve teams of 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, all the way up to whole group activities. This way, team members build new relationships with people they don’t know as well or don’t work well together — because these activities require people to ask for help, collaborate, work together, and appreciate each other.

I get bosses who warn me that there will be resistant people who don’t want to be there. That’s good news to me because I thrive on resistant people! When these people see all the other folks having a blast and learning and growing, they can’t help but jump in and participate.

What makes my Team Building programs different from the rest is that I blend professional growth with personal growth. Participants take home valuable life skills that they can apply at work and at home.

The most important skill I embody and for which I am most proud is my passion. I have 27 years under my belt, and plan on a bunch more in the future. I have happy clients whose word of mouth keeps my business going.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Being a native Atlantan, I love our city! I have watched it grow from a sleepy southern town to a booming metropolis.

Like best: I can fly almost anywhere non-stop.

Like least: Traffic
