Nestled north of Atlanta in Marietta, GA, and just a few miles from downtown Woodstock, A Cacao Affair combines artistry with scrumptious chocolate to create gourmet creations for your taste palate. Karl (owner) devises delicious and unusual combinations of chocolate with different flavors including Georgia olive oil, Saffron, Tahitian vanilla, and black tea. Karl uses only Swiss chocolate to pair with these variety of flavors to construct the decadent perfect chocolate affair to enjoy. No artificial flavors or sweeteners are used; all ingredients are natural to produce the optimal flavor experience.
Beyond just interesting flavors, there are a variety of creative chocolate creations for purchase. There are life-size chocolate footballs, women’s purses, high heel shoes, golf balls, and even cigars. Depending on the season, new and unique concoctions may be added to the shop. Recently, Karl has been investigating different after-dinner drinks and chocolate combinations including truffles to pair with wine, whisky, and more.
A Cacao Affair has been in business since 2013 and Karl, along with his wife Eva, have watched the artisan chocolate shop prosper. Over 30 years of experience in the restaurant business along with a natural love and curiosity have aided Karl’s adventure in discovering new delectable chocolate productions.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a tough and bumpy road for about 2 1/2 years until we were able to get more loyal and local business.
We wanted to be an online chocolate order company and the reason why the store is in an industrial area. The online business didn’t work at all and had to find another way to run our business. We found that way and put the online ordering on hold for now. We are slowly going back to develop website orders.

We are a handcrafted chocolate company that specialize in corporate gifts, wedding favors, hotel amenities, wholesale and personal guilty pleasure!
We do all types of confectionery products such as caramels (even flavored caramels with olive oils and balsamic vinegars!), pate de fruits (fruit jelly), toffees,….We extended our product line to baked goods and Parisian macarons.
What sets us apart is that we are able to do custom flavors even on small scale. We do not necessarily only have our everyday selections. We, also, do wine and chocolate pairing events which have a great success.
What were you like growing up?
I always, loved trying new things with food, play with flavors and finding the right balance between all ingredients.
I like speed.
