Meet Faith Harris of Purposed Faith in South of Atlanta McDonough

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Harris.

Faith, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My business was birthed out of my love for art. I’ve been an artist for as long as I could remember. Art has been my life since I’ve been a little girl. I started out sketching at 4. I’ve been drawing since I could pick up a pencil. From there, my passion took a flight of its own. I discovered and learned Photoshop at age ten and started making graphics and learned how to code as well. I created my first personal blog from scratch and from there I became interested in Photography. Before my parents could afford me a real digital camera, I started using disposable kodak cameras. I took a trip every weekend up to my local Rite -aid just to get the film developed. I moved to Atlanta from upstate New York almost 11 years ago with a dream of pursuing my love for art. I was accepted into the art institute during high school, but couldn’t afford the tuition. I became discouraged and started to pursue other things, but nothing fulfilled me more than art ever has. God brought me back to my first love. I loveeee to serve people and wanted to find a way of incorporating that into my art. I decided to combine the two things I’m amazing at which are writing and photography. I love to document anything, every little chance I get. I also wanted to show my sons that its nothing wrong with going after your dreams and to always be true to whatever it is God has called you to.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s not a smooth road, and it has never been. With hiccups along the way, passion is what drives me. I’ve come across a lot of different struggles. People wanting you to create or do things for free. “Friends” trying to take advantage of you or use some form leverage over you when you’re in the same industry. Also, people thinking you won’t know what you’re doing because you’re a woman working on your own. One thing that has been one of my biggest struggles as well is people wanting to change your brand to accommodate whatever needs they have for the moment. Although the road has not been smooth it has helped me to stay honest with my brand. Also making sure I’m doing exactly what God has graced me to do. I’ve had to set boundaries in some friendships while also maintaining the authenticity of who I am both personally and in business. Those two sometimes have to be two separate things to preserve both. One of the hurdles I’m overcoming now is showing people just because I’m a single mom doesn’t mean my passion for my art stops. We get caught up in what is told to us by the world and forget to show our children what it truly means to live. I want my boys to know that there will be pains and mistakes along the way, sometimes there will be a lot, but never let that stop you from being happy with the gift that you are given.

Purposed Faith – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Purposed Faith Is all about Writing and Photography with Christ at the center of it all. I’m a Writer and a Photographer. I have over 20 years of experience in web development. My business specializes in helping others creatively express themselves. Whether it’s in helping them start, write or finish a book or Schedule amazing photo sessions for any moment they want to capture. It’s beyond just the camera that I use take my photos with or the pencil that writes my stories. I’m a woman driven by making others smile and I enjoy what they see when they receive their photos or finally get that idea for their books out their head. I’m known for my bubbly personality and my dependability. I’m super creative and love to incorporate my ideas wherever they fit!. I’m most proud of what my company represents. Purposed Faith is everything I love wrapped into one. What sets me apart from others is my genuineness. Everything I do is done with authenticity. I’m not just taking photos and helping others with their writing ideas for profit, but I want them to experience the same joy I receive when I’m creating. This has been something I’ve always done and something I’ll always cherish. Photos and writing are much more than what you see, but it’s my heart’s desire.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moments have come from the people I love. The opportunities I receive are amazing, but sometimes just hearing how a story I wrote has changed someone’s life. Taking a photo that someone loved and was surprised by. I love helping someone with their brand and hearing how much it has helped them. Hearing years later how something I’ve written or created has lived on through the lives of others. Being able to help others and take their ideas beyond their imagination is so fulfilling. I absolutely love to warm the hearts of the people who choose to share sincere parts of their hearts with me. Opportunities come, but touching the lives of others never fades when you are truly walking in purpose. That’s what makes me the proudest.
