Meet Jared Fields

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Fields.

Jared C. Fields is a graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, he is originally from Riviera Beach, Florida. Throughout his college career, he has always shown an interest in community service and political activities.

Serving in the community has been embedded in his soul since middle school when he was working on election campaigns for the Mayor of my hometown of Riviera Beach, Florida. His desire and love of being a public servant continued to grow from that point as he marched with the late great comedian and activist Dick Gregory to address institutional racism. From that point on, he knew that service was his calling.

Jared graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in economics from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. He brings years of leadership experience from several jobs, internships and organizations including The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, National Forum for Black Public Administrators and currently serve as the Vice President of the Emerging 100 of the 100 Black Men of South Metro Atlanta. Jared also possesses a Masters of Public Administration degree from Ashford University. Jared currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia where he is employed at Cox Media Group as a Senior Buyer. He is a supply chain professional, public servant, public speaker and passionate mental health advocate. In 2017, Jared was recognized as one of the top employees in the Department of Public Works for the City of Atlanta. Lastly, in the same year he was also recognized as one of the top public servants in the Metro Atlanta Area by the Young Government Leaders of Atlanta and was one of the recipients of their 40 under 40 awards.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, the road has not been smooth. I lost my father at a young age, so I had to lean on role models, male family figures and mentors to help keep me on the right path. I was not the perfect student in high school nor college. I failed classes and worked a full-time job as a Store Manager while attending FAMU. I experienced loss and trauma throughout my life, but I made the decision to persevere and strive to be the man that I was born to be. The life path that I travelled to get where I am today was rough and rugged, therefore I am determined to pay it forward so that the individuals following my foot steps can avoid the hardships that I have encountered along this journey.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I try to stay busy, so I have several things that I am currently focused on. Those things include my non- profit “iHELP”, clothing brand “Tattooed and Educated”, and Podcast “Just Politickin”.

I am a public servant by nature, so community service is instilled in me. Wanting to make a larger impact on the community is what inspired me to launch “iHELP”. iHELP is a nonprofit agency providing extracurricular and character development programs for youth throughout the Metro Atlanta Area. It is currently operating in Florida and will launch in the Metro Atlanta area in Fall 2020. The program will form partnerships with local school districts, community agencies and youth programs.

“Tattooed and Educated” is my Atlanta based clothing brand. It’s a brand that represents a group of intellectual savages that are professionals during the day and Rockstar’s at night. This brand was created to represent people who express themselves through body art that are labeled by society as villains. To combat that stereotype, a portion of the proceeds will go to funding scholarships for undergraduate college students. Lastly, I am Co-Owner \ Co-Host of the “Just Politickin” Podcast. On the Just Politickin Podcast, we discuss real issues impacting the hip hop/urban culture in our quest to be the best podcast in the world. Please follow us on Apple Podcast and Spotify.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Technology is going to impact all industries in this next decade. This is the time where keeping up with tech will be to everyone’s advantage. A lot of services will now be virtual and remote including school and work. Our lives are about to permanently change, we should embrace the change and not avoid it.
