Meet Anthony Clint Jr. of Clint Productions in Northwest Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Clint Jr.

Anthony, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been a musician most of my life. I started out on drums around age four, learned piano around age 16, then picked up bass later on in my 20’s. Being raised in Toledo, OH, there wasn’t too much to get into so I found myself working on music a lot. Especially around the age of 15 when I started getting more into music production. I was around 15/16 years old when I knew I wanted to have a production company and produce music for artists.

I started my production company, Clint Productions, in 2009, while I was in college at THE Ohio State University. My original goal was to create a website and be an online resource to provide music production services to artists, songwriters and businesses anywhere in the country. That quickly shifted into working with local artists which began to increase by word-of-mouth, then eventually artists, producers and songwriters throughout the US & New Zealand.

In 2010 I met who would become a producer/music biz mentor of mine, Dwight “Skrapp” Reynolds (Akon, Justin Bieber, Usher, Whitney Houston) via U Stream. We ended up producing & writing a record that eventually ended up being recorded by the Grammy-nominated artist Musiq Soulchild. This was my first experience producing for a major artist. Even though the record was unreleased, the experience confirmed that it was time for me to take my music career to the next level.

In 2011 I moved from Columbus, Ohio to Atlanta, GA to continue to develop my craft and learn more about the music business and music production. Since then, I have been blessed to be able to work with more Grammy-nominated artists such as Tamar Braxton, Case, Tiyon “TC” Christian, as well as produce music for a variety of TV shows & films including Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Love & Hip Hop, NAACP Image Awards, Property Brothers, Thursday Night Football, Catfish, Emmy Award-winning Born This Way and more.

Since 2015, my focus has been primarily on composing music for TV & film. These past few years of success in music licensing has allowed me to help other producers and artists around the world learn how they can monetize their music in TV & film. This has been accomplished through free online content, courses, one-on-one consultations and recently my #RoadTo10Placements tour.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! Any entrepreneur I know will tell you there are many challenges you will face on your journey. Some personal challenges for me were learning how to market and brand myself as a producer. I started out by spamming links on social media and quickly learned that it wasn’t an effective way to get business.

Having to learn how to keep pushing after hearing “no” was a challenge. Being tied down in a publishing deal for three years where the publisher didn’t do a whole lot for my career was an obstacle that I learned from. A lot of owning a business is learning how to look at your mistakes… look at what doesn’t work, analyze and figure out how to shift and grow from it. Another big one was learning how to balance family life with work life. I’m a workaholic… mostly because it doesn’t feel like work to me. I can literally go go go but after getting married and starting a family, I’ve learned the importance of balancing the two.

Clint Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business focuses on providing music production, mixing & mastering for artists, TV, Film & media. I also provide resources such as sound packs, tutorials, courses and consultations for other creatives looking to learn more about music licensing, music business and music production.

What I’m most proud of is the ability and platform to be able to help as many producers, artists and songwriters as I can with my experiences and help them find creative ways to monetize their music via music licensing. What sets me apart is my professionalism, musical versatility as a multi-instrumentalist/producer, consistency and unique experience in music licensing.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Composing music for three seasons of the Emmy-Award winning show “Born This Way” on A&E. This was an amazing and inspiring show to work on. I was able to work closely with the lead composer of the show which was an awesome learning experience.
