Today we’d like to introduce you to Adeline Troutman.
Adeline, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I created an Instagram account in June 2019 solely to post my makeup looks. One day I decided to use #atlantamodels just to see who it would reach, and someone actually reached out! She asked me if I would be interested in modeling in some dresses in exchange for compensation and photos back and I just decided “why not?” Those pictures actually Kickstarter my modeling career and I officially signed with a modeling agency in October 2019.
Since then, I have been working both through my agency, I also mostly do freelance work. I’ve been living by the motto, “you only live once,” to inspire me to keep going, and my biggest aspiration currently is to get into the acting industry in Atlanta! Modeling and acting was always something that I considered wishful thinking—something that I wanted to try out but never had the confidence to do—but now that I’m actually doing it, I love it too much to ever let it go. I’ve only been modeling for eight months, but I’ve grown so much as a model, and I’ve already worked with a big MTV celebrity. I’m only seventeen, but I plan on making this my career, and I’m so thankful for everyone who helped me along the way.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would say that the difficulties I’ve had mainly stem from the fact that I’m still a high school student (senior this year). Because of that, I couldn’t always make it to certain shoots because it conflicted with my academic schedule, and there were a couple of big shots that I had to miss because they were too far away. Mentally, I’ve struggled a bit because I keep thinking, “oh, I’m not doing enough, I’m not getting enough jobs, I’m not doing as great as these other models,” but I have to remind myself that I’m still a seventeen years old girl who just started modeling in September 2019. I still have so much to learn, and it sometimes sucks that because I’m under eighteen, I can’t participate in certain opportunities, but while I’m still so young, I can make the necessary actions to allow my career to flourish in the future.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a signed/freelance model and aspiring actress in Atlanta. I mainly do freelance work and specialize in more of the commercial side of modeling, as I’m a petite model. I’m probably mostly known for having big curly red hair and naturally pretty thick eyebrows (Blame it on my Syrian genes), and I think this definitely sets me apart from the general consensus of models in Atlanta because redheads aren’t as common—especially ones with darker red hair and pale skin. I’m also pretty young, I know about two other models as young as I am where I model. Something I’m most proud of about this career is that I did this for myself. My parents didn’t help me I drive to my shoots myself, I pay for all of the things I need, I advocate for myself, and I audition and attend casting calls and open calls on my own. It makes me proud to know that I can do things on my own.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have a LOT of people I owe credit to. Alima Albari (AlimaIndustries), my mother agent, was the very first person to contact me and she landed me my very first modeling job. She’s so sweet and was just so willing to help me jumpstart my career, and I’m so thankful for the amount of help she was when I first started. My modeling agency, MILES Models has been a huge help with giving me credibility when I meet potential clients, and, of course, my mom and my girlfriend have been so amazing and supportive of my ambitions. I’m so thankful for everyone else who has helped me (photographers, directors, makeup and hairstylists, etc.).
