Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Robinson.
Kiara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my brand after moving to Atlanta from Mississippi in 2013. I have always loved long extensions and having the versatility of different styles so I knew eventually that I was going to join the industry of hair! I’m extremely weave friendly as you can see, lol! One day, I decided to go through my Facebook messages to do a little cleaning and that’s when I noticed how often people were writing me about my sew ins and just giving me compliments on my hair overall. I think we all should embrace our crown whether it’s relaxed, natural, loc, or in extensions! At that moment, I took out my composition book and literally wrote down my business plan. I started my business right in my bedroom the next day. Within a week, I had designed my own website, found a reliable vendor, created my own logo and branding tools for marketing! As today, Crown Me Virgin Hair has been completely restructured and relaunched for the year of 2020! My brand is growing and will eventually expand in all aspects!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Whew! Did you say smooth ride? In the business world? Oh, no! There been some challenges, setbacks, and FAILURE! I have cried happy tears and sad tears, LOL! One of my biggest struggles was support you know? Relocating from a small town to a big city without anyone knowing me to even support me definitely a struggle. I struggled for about a year with having little to no sales each month. I had to step things up with my branding due to running my brand alone. I had to figure something out quick so I started doing pop ups back home to gain more support that way and free giveaways on social media to get my brand out more. Although I saw a difference in sales and more orders coming in, I still felt like I wasn’t doing enough and then that’s where the real struggle came in FEAR.
I started to struggle with believing in my brand and when you seek fear, you lack confident and faith… It’s okay to be hard on yourself but I made the biggest mistake by allowing the struggles I faced to overpower me and my brand so of course I gave up! Giving up was selfish of me due to letting down the support I had gained over the years: Foolish of me to do that to my clients that really stuck with me! The thoughts of my hairline hunted me like no other and I was not going to rest until I made it happen again! I’m super excited for the relaunch of my brand and learning from my mistakes! I have rebuild, rebrand, and restructure a whole new plan! Being back in my happy place with my business is only encouraging me to do three things: 1. Push through! 2. Have faith! 3. Look up and never down!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Crown Me Virgin Hair – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The goal is to expand! As of now, my brand is online base only. While it’s very convenient for people to shop online, I plan to have a storefront here in Atlanta as a stepping stone! I’m currently in the process of bringing my own brand of lashes and flat iron as one for Crown Me Virgin Hair! I have faith in where I’m going and I plan to have a location in three other cities within a five years range!
