Meet Savannah Powers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Powers.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Savannah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I decided to start @savvyou in 2017. I had gone through a deep depression for a little over a year and was unsure who I even was at the time. I was on a mission to find myself and my creativity once again. Originally, the account was my husband’s idea so I could start to empower myself through my talents with styling/fashion. I did not have any professional modeling experience when I started and honestly never imagined that this passion would become what it has now. Within two years, I grew an audience of 10,000 followers. I was floored by how many loved the content I was producing and wanted to see more. Over time, I began gradually experimenting with styled/themed shoots and branched out into styling others as well for my creative shoot ideas. I found a newfound passion for seeing my creations come to life visually through styling.

Since I started out in 2017, I have directed ten styled series so far from creative ideas I have had and modeled for over 40 different brands/stores. As I started to fall in love with modeling more, I decided to venture into the world of runway. I went to my first audition for a runway show in April 2019 and have been in four shows since then with two more coming up in 2020. I definitely feel that I have made it to where I am today in my modeling career through connections I have made and the passion I have for it.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to where I am today has been smooth for the most part but there will definitely always be struggles and hurdles along the way with everything in life. I had to learn a lot of things the hard way not having any training/experience with what I was doing but those experiences taught me so much along the way. Success does not happen overnight and those that strive for their own personal version of success really work for it every single day. Every successful person we look up to worked for years to get to where they are now but we don’t always see that full process. That’s what I remind myself of when I feel like the things I desire are too far out of reach or unattainable. There will also always be those that don’t believe in you as much as you believe in yourself, so you must stay strong and remember that you can do anything if you set your mind to it and believe in yourself over everything.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I specialize in modeling for photoshoots and fashion shows and styling and directing my own shoots. I am most known for my styled series of recreations of movies, shows or characters like you see here. I am probably most proud of the ability to bring ideas to life through combining style, models, locations and props. I also am proud of the way I am able to empower others and their talents through my craft. I believe what sets me apart from others is the ability to organize shoots that not only empower myself but others through showcasing their talents for the world to see as well. That is always my goal; to be relatable.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, the only thing I would do differently, I think, would be put myself out there sooner. I would have looked for opportunities to get involved with things and went for them sooner rather than later. I wish I had stepped out before I did and gone after the things that made me scared or nervous even sooner. I feel that we don’t reach our full potential until we really put ourselves out there and step out of our comfort zone. It was when I stepped out of the place that I was comfortable in, that I really started finding myself and honing in on my craft to the fullest extent.
