Today we’d like to introduce you to Trudie Robinson.
Trudie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My mother started working in the travel business in her 40’s. I was in the social work field and I was not happy and I quit. I went to travel school and I started working in the travel field in 1982. I opened my own agency in 2002. I merge with another agent and we had opened an agency in 2010 and I started my own agency in 2016. I worked under an agency in NC. I have 13 outside agents that work with me.
Has it been a smooth road?
Travel business is hard. A lot of people do not understand why you should use an agency and also working with some of my staff has been a challenge. I have one agent that has been with me since 2003.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Imagine Travel Atlanta story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialized in destination weddings and honeymoons. I have really started specializing in group travel. I love that my agency can do most locations. I am trying to get them to specialize in something.
I have been recognized as Best of the Best for Sandals and Top acct with local tour operator.
I feel one reason that I have been so successful is that I am very honest and try to get my client the best deal.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
More specialties in agents I think there will be more and more tour operators that merge.
