Today we’d like to introduce you to Kee Monae.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Statesboro, GA and came to Atlanta to attend Georgia State University. I graduated in May 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Clinical Health Informatics. I have seven siblings and is a first-generation graduate. My mother and father were both absent for a portion of my life and as an effect, my family was separated. During my adolescence, I turned to school, music, and modeling to escape my environment and transfer my pain into something beautiful, remarkable, and positive. I worked throughout school and put myself through college. In 2018, I decided to take my music seriously and dropped my first single and video such a Lady, June 3, 2018, and Triple Threat on April 3, 2019. I love making music, because my music describes me, who I am, and what I represent. I am a phenomenal woman with many talents and cant wait for the world to experience them. I have so much to share, just waiting for God’s timing.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
During my adolescence, my mother and father were both absent for a portion of my life and as an effect, my family was separated. I have seven siblings, so it was hard being all together to all of us being separated. I turned to school, music, and modeling to escape my reality and transfer my pain into something positive. During this struggle, I learned perseverance, faith, and how to stay positive. I excelled in school and got many scholarships to put myself through college. While in college, I decided to take my music seriously and ever since I’ve been working on perfecting my craft.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am an Artist/Model. I make rap-pop music and occasionally do print modeling. What sets me apart from others is my confidence and drive. When I perform, I give it my all and immediately connect with the audience. I channel my Beyonce vibes lol!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have started early. I wouldn’t have waited until I was in college to take my music and modeling seriously. I should have taken it seriously when I was 12. Faith without work is dead.
