Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelvin Hair.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kelvin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started out wanting to be an actor in high school. Taking dramas class was my first introduction into theater. When I graduated, I wanted to pursue a career in the arts, but my mother was strong in college, and not majoring in drama. Over the next few years, I attended Florida A&M University while modeling and working on my real estate license. After working in the real estate field for a while, I really started to feel regret for never following my original career path. So I decided to hang everything up to pursue my dream. I also went on a Tom Joyner cruise because they had an opportunity to audition for Tyler Perry. Over hundreds auditioned and I made it in the top 10. Before leaving, someone of Tyler’s team asked where I lived and if I thought about moving to ATL… that’s all I needed to get up and go lol.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Leveling up as an actor to the level they perform at in Atlanta… it wasn’t so much a challenge but I was happy for the opportunity to grow and be around instructors that I felt really knew what they were talking about.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I think was sets me apart from most actors is my ability to act true to a current situation or circumstance but depending on the production sometimes they want more entertainment than true acting. That’s when the research comes in.
What were you like growing up?
Quiet, still am. I feel like I was a goofball when I was a kid, but I can only get that way with close friends and family for some reason lol.
