Meet Imani Harris of It Isn’t A Trend

Today we’d like to introduce you to Imani Harris.

Imani, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
During college, I became a writer for an online magazine and my niche content was rooted within self-love, wellness, and lifestyle content. I loved it so much that I launched my own blog and really dug deep into the true meanings of what it means to love yourself. After a few tough seasons, I really underwent a transformation and decided to expand my platform beyond a blog to influence and inspire as many people as I could. After two years of trial and error, giving up and trying again, I finally rebranded my blogging platform into an app, and that’s how “It Isn’t A Trend” was born. By stepping fully into my calling and power, launching my own brand has given me the confidence to step into entrepreneurship, public speaking, and event hosting and other ventures that I would have never imagined.

Has it been a smooth road?
My biggest struggle has and will always be anxiety and self-doubt. Within my platform, I have vowed to always remain as transparent and open as possible, and openly discuss my struggles with a general anxiety disorder. This has prevented me from taking advantage of a lot of opportunities in the past and has held me back from walking fully into my purpose. After seeking therapy, deep reflection and healing, I’ve learned to manage the anxiety I feel when it comes to uncertainty. Nothing stems from comfort and growth will never come from staying still. You have to take yourself into elements unknown in order to fully grow into what you’re destined to become. To this day, I still struggle with anxiety. That’s something that will never go away. But I’ve learned ways to manage and deal with my internal struggles in ways that still can birth new beginnings and allow me to take advantage of fresh opportunities without excruciating fear.

Please tell us about It Isn’t A Trend.
Right now, I am a self-love enthusiast, communications strategist, and entrepreneur dedicated to building community, empowering women, and utilizing digital media platforms to inspire others. I’m extremely passionate about advocating for marginalized communities and the majority of my work is rooted within empowering, helping, and inspiring women, specifically women of color. I am the creator of “It Isn’t A Trend”, which is a women’s empowerment app that has surpassed over 6,000 digital downloads since our launch in 2019. Through this, I’ve coordinated and hosted women’s empowerment brunches, networking events and conferences and have dedicated my voice towards creating community and promoting wellness spaces. I’ve also recently published a book available on Amazon titled “Living Intentionally,” which is an interactive guidebook for healing, personal development, and growth. Overall, my true mission lies within encouraging as many individuals as possible and serving others to remind women and girls of the power rooted within themselves and the true importance of self -love.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I hope to see more people of color discuss mental health issues, specifically within the African American community. I also hope to see more black women represented more in the wellness world, which ultimately will serve as a catalyst encouraging more and more women to root themselves within these spaces. Beyond this, I see entrepreneurship truly taking over and an abundance of people stepping into their individual power, launching platforms that fulfill them fully. I love being a part of this space, and I love serving as a role model for others who may be afraid to launch their “passion project.” Launch it because the world is waiting to see your version of the work you’re destined to do. You’re more than enough, and deserve to take up space here.

I’m excited to see more and more people flourish in this industry and beyond. There’s room for everyone at the top. I’m a firm believer in that.
