Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Morel Brown.
Angel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In June 2013, I worked for a Fortune 500 company and it seemed as if it were impossible for women to come together because we thought that there was only enough room for one of us at the top. God put it on my heart to create a space for women of all walks of life to come together, stop the nonsense and do positive things, whether it be with each other or in the community. That is how E.L.I.T.E Women was born, which has open the door to other endeavors.
Since conception, EW has collaborated with several other organizations to promote encouraging and uplifting, while also influencing others to live triumphantly. We have collaborated with several organizations in the city of Detroit to provide mentoring services to young girls and adult women to help them change their outlook on life. Elite Women has blossomed into something that I am proud of, and we continue to seek out ways to give back. One way that EW has encouraged me was to write my book, Fatherless Daughter: A Different Perspective.
Fatherless Daughter ADP is a collaboration passion project in which not only do I share my “fatherless daughter” story, but I also interviewed other women for them to share their stories as well. This book was developed from me mentoring girls who grew up like me, but did not believe that they had it in them to be like me… be better than me. They didn’t believe that they could change their attitude, they did not believe that they could earn a college degree, they did not believe that they could leave Detroit. I wanted to produce something tangible in which they can see that they are not alone, and can be whatever their heart desires.
From Fatherless Daughter ADP created a platform in which I’ve personally mentored and had the opportunity to speak about my experience and how my Spiritual Father helped me to overcome it all, which led to the FatherFULL project. FatherFull is basically a platform that lets individuals know that even though they may be fatherless in the physical, they are Fatherfull in the Spiritual. There is an e-devotional that can be ordered on my site, www.AMorelBrown.com as well.
Fatherless Daughter: A Different Perspective is available on Amazon, Kindle, Barnes&Noble, and on my site at www.AMorelBrown.com
Has it been a smooth road?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road. When you know that you are purposed for something great and it involves you giving a piece of yourself to others, it requires boldness, bravery, and a great sense of self. The bumps in the roads should never stop you from getting to your destination.
Please tell us about Elite Women.
E.L.I.T.E Women is a Service Leadership organization whose mission is to Encourage Women to be God-Fearing Leaders that Influence others to live Triumphant lifestyles while Empowering those around them to be their best self. Our pillars of success are Community, Collaborate, Mentor, and Service and those are the things we are best known for. We have partnered with several non-profit organizations in the city of Detroit, such as the Neighborhood Services Organization, Vista Maria, and the Detroit Rescue Mission, just to name a few. We have also collaborated with several organizations within the city of Detroit to provide resources to our community.
What I am most proud of is the group of women who are a big part of E.L.I.T.E, who are constantly looking for ways for us to give back. Thank you, ladies (You know who you are). I am also proud of the fact that we have helped so many young girls and women to see life differently. Some of the mentors have come from a broken home or have had similar backgrounds of the women and young girls we have encountered, and us sharing our stories and providing different perspectives have opened our mentees up to know that they have the opportunity to do better and be better. That makes my heart smile.
Fatherless Daughter: ADP has also allowed me the opportunity to give back by way of speaking out and letting women know that there is always a way, even when we think that there is not. That makes my heart smile.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
E.L.I.T.E Women started in Detroit, MI and is still operating to this day. I definitely think that there is a great opportunity in Atlanta for EW to be just as successful. I am actually looking into opportunities now, even during our “new normal.”
