Meet Curtis Washington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Curtis Washington.

Curtis, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a Navy brat, so I grew up all around the world. After high school, I got recruited to play Basketball for USC in Southern California and then after two years transferred schools to Georgia state to be close to my Grandfather here in Georgia. There I got my degree in Art. After college, I went pro in basketball and took my talents overseas. This has allowed me to play in multiple countries all over the world. About two and a half years ago, I decided to give acting a try and absolutely fell in love. I auditioned and booked a role in a major film and since then have worked on multiple movies and a BET pilot with acting one of my many goals is to bring emotion to the viewer. Especially laughter. If I’m able to put a smile on peoples faces and make them feel better then I’m happy with that. I would love to work with Malcolm lee and Will Packer again, as well as Tyler Perry, I absolutely love what they are doing here in Atlanta for the film industry. I truly love acting and can not wait to see where God takes me. On top of acting, I also model as well. I have a passion for working with children and have a plan to open some sort of business/program helping our youth. My goal is to spread love and really reach our youth, because that is the most important time to be an influence on someone’s life.  I believe that is what God put me on this earth to do. God has always been a huge part of my life because without him. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve anything. I plan on using my platform to spread his love to as many people as possible.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road like everyone thinks. In my basketball career, I’ve had to deal with several injuries and some difficult situations. Along with certain opportunities falling through and also having to deal with personal life while trying to focus on being a professional athlete. On the acting world, it is filled with obstacles. What people don’t understand is how much we actors have to face failure and disappointment and still keep pushing and pushing and use that “failure” as a learning experience. We hear no a thousand times but it only takes 1 “yes” to change your life. So for me, adversity isn’t something I shy away from. Gods got my back and with him, there is no obstacle that I can’t breakthrough.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I specialize in Basketball, acting, modeling, art, and working with kids. I can also play the drums. Extremely proud of the amount of people’s lives, I’ve been able to influence throughout my journey. The thing that sets me apart from others is ME! There’s only one of me and no one can duplicate my unique personality or the love I show to everyone who crosses my path.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from my childhood would probably be when I got my first Gameboy, and immediately I was hooked! I haven’t put down the video games since.
