Today we’d like to introduce you to Global Joe.
Global, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I been around music since I was little. My uncle introduced me to the producing world at eight. At the time, I knew how to play the piano, which made adding melodies to his beats fun. At the age of 13, I experienced making my first beat. I was always musically inclined but wasn’t aware of my talent until I got to high school. Growing up being raised by a single-mom motivated me to be a helping hand and bring extra money in. As I started to focus on my independency, I realized my capability of writing poetry, making melodies and having an ear for music. One day my uncle gave me a laptop with beat software and an Akai Mini keyboard. I started to branch off and make beats on my own. I found my talent as a Producer and my sound continues to grow. I’ve experienced beat battles, worked with different artists in my area, put out two producer albums, and sat in front of different A&Rs and execs. I’m five years in and it’s only up from here!
Has it been a smooth road?
To be real, producing has been good for me but it was also a tough road for me. Through the failures and disappointments, there were times I questioned myself as a producer and the work I’ve put in. Sometimes I thought to myself, “should I give up?”. I’ve made important connections with people who could’ve easily changed my career, but unfortunately, they didn’t fall through. Despite all of that, I still kept going because making music is what I enjoy doing and it’s my passion. Those failures is what drove me, and if I have a vision for something great, I don’t quit. I see myself going far and one day, I’m going to be one of the biggest producers out of my city. Not only that, I’m going to change the game. Remember This!
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I started Global Joe Productions when I was 15. It wasn’t until mid-2019 when I took it to the internet and created my own website to sell beats. When I first started making beats, I used to post beats on beatstars, but then I stopped. At the time whenever a sale gets made, if you didn’t have one of their subscriptions every month, you would only get 70% of what you made instead of 100%. Once I realized that I had a plan. I knew that I could just do it on my own when the time was right and when my catalog was filled with nothing but hits. Fast forward to now, I post beats on my website and get to keep 100% of my revenue. As a beat store, I’m most proud of being able to attract new artists. Anyone who knows me understands that beats is a large part of who I am. It’s my Brand. What sets me apart is my consistency and drive to be different from others.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Atlanta. The music scene, the culture, the people. No matter where I go, nothing feels like Atlanta. Even though it’s the city where I was born and raised, our city is just lit. Attractions and all. We all stick together. The only thing I least like is the traffic.
