Today we’d like to introduce you to Cortne B Miller.
Cortne, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Cortne’ Miller, best known as “Cortne’ B.” A model, influencer, host, radio personality and girl empowerment enthusiast. I hit a very rough patch in my sophomore year I’m college. Depression, loss of identity, pity from mistakes not wanting to accept who I was as Cortne’. And there was a quick reality check! “Cort you know who you are and whose you are. How dare you be defeated?” After a pity party that did not help my situation, I had to have a real talk in the mirror to myself and go back to my foundation. Who does God say that I am? What does God think of me? Who’s greater than my Father? You know he’s victorious right, so why do you feel defeated? Can you forgive yourself? What’s the hardest part about forgiving you?
There were some strongholds, soul ties and glass ceilings. I had to release in order to fully walk in who called me to be. I had been running from it anyway. I just had to accept me, accept my mistakes and walk-in who I was UNAPOLOGETICALLY and always remember WHO I belonged to. I am mentoring and ministry was birthed out of that season in my life. I AM is a women empowerment program that empowers young girls and women to love themselves, accept their identity and own their power. There’s no one else like you, God knew exactly who you would be, the mistakes you’d make and he STILL chose you. Don’t insult him by hating his creation, but instead embrace her and work to be the best person you can be. EVERYDAY.
Being the person, you’re called to be takes Faith and willingness. Our faith is tried and trained every day, which is where my business IAM FIT FAITH IN TRAINING was birth. I AM FIT FAITH IN TRAINING is an athleisure wear company that pushes others to get active in their faith, whether it is weight goals, personal goals, pursuing dreams. GET ACTIVE and believe God has already met you there.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I remember when I first had the dream to model, I would hear you’re not talking enough, or you’re too this or that but I was determined to push though. I was able to walk in NYFW after being told no. But there were also BIG no’s received from agencies due to “my look” and my height, which is ok it just means they weren’t for me. It would get discouraging but at the right time, God will make it happen and that’s what I had to hold on to. Nothing worth having is easy, create your own lane and thrive there. The ones that are supposed to notice will notice.
Starting a small business is the easy part, operating is what gets difficult. I didn’t come from a family that could just give me 5,000 for startup costs i had to hustle. I had to work, to put money into my business, we took losses, made mistakes. But the best thing to me is seeing and learning from the mistakes now rather than running into them five years down the road and being set back. It’s not easy but so rewarding when you can look back and say, wow, we did that in two years? Or we’ve come a long way from just T-shirts. We just had to start and grow from there.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Athleisure trends are continuing to grow, their comfy, convenient and the numbers are continuing to rise gross wise from research.
