Meet Anecia Davis of Oh So Fab Stationery in McDonough

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anecia Davis.

Anecia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always been a creative person. It is my outlet and passion. After having my son, I did not want to return to work so I started out making self-portraits for customers. This opened a work of creations that led to so many outlets like wall murals, gift baskets, Inspirational plaques and so on. I ended up going back to work about 2 years of doing my own thing.  Despite the nine to five, my creative juices kept flowing. I wanted to make bags, so I started making leather bags, all kinds. I would do markets on the weekend to sell them. The demand for the bags brought me to the decision to go back to school and get my degree in fashion.  It was a little more challenging because by now I have four kids. Attending school and being a Mom provided me with little to no time to sew and create. One day I decided to go back to my first passion, drawing! It brought me back to that place of peace. I decided to combine fashion and drawing.  So here I am today a year into my stationery line and it’s moving slowly but I am happy and inspiring others through my work.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was not easy at all. Trying to have a business and take care of home has its challenges. There are times when you wonder if the stress and late nights are worth it. Then you realize that it is bigger than you because someone needs to be inspired. This is when you roll up your sleeves and push on through.

We would love to hear more about the company.
I am a stationery and apparel designer. I provide journals, notecards, bookmarks, and apparel that inspire and uplift. I am most proud of the ability to connect with people by providing them with something that brings them joy or a gift of joy to a love one, co-worker, or friend of theirs.

What were you like growing up?
I was a creative and competitive person growing up. I always saw the ability to create a world you desire to live in. My competitiveness was not so much with people but more so with the idea of saying it cannot be done. I was the person that would believe “oh yes it can!”
