Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Hargrove.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It’s interesting when asked to share my life’s story, I can’t find words lol when it’s my life! It could be because the journey is still in motion…many highs, quite a few lows…but ever-flowing, and for that, I’m thankful for the journey! I like to call myself an everlasting student of life’s lessons so I’ll share a bit about what I’ve learned and the tools I’ve acquired on the path.
For starters- I’m Kelsey Hargrove 🙂
A daughter, friend, Licensed Psychotherapist, Yoga Instructor, Meditation Guide, and Personal Trainer! Lowkey a mouthful lol but they all flow so well together! It’s become more and more important for me to first identify my role as a relational human before listing my professional work…we get so caught up in titles and status when we are so much more and have more to offer.
Alright so for the tools I’ve acquired along the path, all of which allow me to serve each individual I have the pleasure of working with from a holistic lens. These tools fall under an umbrella that I call my firstborn:
Living For Synergy Wellness, LLC-
A holistic health and wellness company that emphasizes the intersection of physical health, mental health, and spirituality.
So boom, I’m a business owner as well!
So how did I land here…
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and graduated without a clue of what to do next. Through mentorship and what I believe to be divine order, I pursued a Masters in Clinical Mental Health which led me to my career as a Licensed Psychotherapist. While in graduate school, I found my love for physical activity, yoga, and mindfulness as a coping mechanism to manage my anxiety at the time. I was never clinically diagnosed with depression but there came a point on my journey where life was happening and I needed to take care of myself in a way that wasn’t limited to just meeting my daily basic needs. I needed to deepen and reshape my self-care practice. Yoga, meditation, and fitness became my safe space, a physical avenue of an enhanced self-care practice that completely shifted and changed my life.
I landed there. It wasn’t in the plans I thought I wanted for my life, but I am forever grateful for the trials that moved me in those directions.
I studied group fitness, yoga for athletes, personal training, and completed 200hrs to become a registered yoga instructor!
I know in my heart, my life’s work is in creating a synergistic flow of physical fitness, mental health, yoga and mindfulness for myself, for those I’m in a relationship with, and for the lives, I impact professionally.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Many obstacles and challenges….that’s life. They’ll happen again. What I’ve learned is I can only control my response to the inevitable challenges that may come my way. Each challenge is embraced as a new opportunity to grow and evolve. So I welcome them. They mold us. They make us better.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’ll go a little deeper into my work as a Psychotherapist. I have a great deal of clinical training in eating disorders amongst teens and adolescents. I work with women and men struggle with anxiety, depression, body image concerns, low self-esteem, trauma, and more. As a Therapist of color, I aim to create a safe space for POC and those that identify with the LGBTQIA population.
What were you like growing up?
I was always curious…a truth and knowledge seeker…sometimes a little more curious and interested in things I had no business digging into lol.
I’d say I was pretty outgoing and friendly in my younger years. I’ve always enjoyed people. Different kinds of people, all shapes, sizes, and colors. Connecting with other humans as always been my thing…
