Today we’d like to introduce you to Cierra Acker.
Cierra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up, I was often teased about my full-sized lips. I became slowly insecure and looked for something to hide my insecurities in. At the age of nine, I became obsessed with vibrant color lipglosses and bold matte lipsticks. As silly as it sounds, these products made me feel comfortable in my own skin. As I grew in confidence, makeup became therapeutic for me versus a masking mechanism to hide my insecurities. Today, makeup is my art that I show with the world, hoping to inspire the next little girl to love herself for who she is and a fun leisure activity to express my creativity.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to becoming a beauty influencer has not been an easy one. I’m far from where I would like to be but hopefully, I can look back on this interview and admire my progression a year from now. My goal is to partner with makeup brands who values the beauty in all black women and is devoted to helping people to see the beauty in what they may consider a flaw.
Please tell us about CeemoDegrees.
CeemoDegrees is my brand that is created to show that I continue to grow, whether in knowledge, my veganism journey, or makeup and to invite my supporters on my journey with me. I specialize in bold and bright makeup looks but I think I’m known for my fun makeup videos! I think my humbleness and personality I bring to my makeup content sets me apart from other makeup content creators.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have started my brand sooner. I thought I had to be perfect and it took me a long time to put my makeup content out because of it. I’ve learned that there is beauty in transformation and it’s ok to be a work in progress.
