Meet Christopher Zollman of Stepping Stones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Zollman.

Christopher, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Chris Zollman and I am the owner of Stepping Stones of Atlanta. We are a sober living/halfway house for men in Recovery. I am in Recovery and have 8 years clean. I worked for a sober living in 2013 and unfortunately it didn’t survive. I saw how it helped change so many people’s lives. Some of the clients who graduated did a complete 180. They got their family back, job and many other things. Once that business went under, I decided to start Stepping Stones of Atlanta. We help men who suffer from addiction and substance abuse. It was a tough road to get started, but once people heard about the strong recovery here, business started to grow.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was a bumpy road when we first started the sober living. You have to find the right location that allows it. This industry is flooded with places like ours. We had to do marketing and also get clients in to show that we are the real deal. It took about a year to get a great reputation. Other than that, things went smoothly. This is a 24/7 business so there is always something going on and someone always has to be on call.

Please tell us about the business.
Stepping Stones of Atlanta Recovery Residence offers a safe, structured environment for men who are recovering from the disease of addiction. Stepping Stones of Atlanta provides a supportive, drug-free environment in a community setting. Stepping Stones of Atlanta Recovery Residence is 12 steps based and offers a sober living environment. The 12-steps of Alcoholics Anonymous are, in our opinion, is the only proven method of establishing long-term sobriety for people who suffer from drug addiction or alcoholism. By aligning Stepping Stone’s sober living program with the 12 Steps, we not only access the therapeutic value of the Steps, but also establish a support system for the clients that will continue long after they leave Stepping Stones. Stepping Stones of Atlanta Recovery Residence believes that each client has value as a person, capable of self-determination and is therefore due respect, honesty and genuine caring.

We are unique because we have staff that lives on property of the sober living. We also are a small program which allows us to know the clients. Many programs just care about numbers, but we care about quality. The clients almost become “family”.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We have no big plans for the future. We like the size of our sober living. The more beds you get, the harder it is to keep track of clients. Eventually. we would like to open a detox center but that is years away.

Pricing:

  • We are $900 which includes everything but food.
