Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Hefner.
Katrina Hefner is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Addy & Al’s, a children’s event planning company that curates memorable children’s birthday parties and unique Children POP UP Parties—Party On Purpose—Unique People. The company’s newest venture includes hosting virtual parties with the “Party In A Box” as seen in Atlanta Parent Magazine. Katrina is intentional in living a life of purpose and that message is the central focus in which she BIRTHed her company. She wholeheartedly believes that the day a person is born is the day they are gifted to the universe to uniquely use their gifts and talents, designed specifically for them to impart into the world. Addy & Al’s handles all of the planning so that parents can enjoy their BIRTHing day. Katrina collaborates with various schools, programs and businesses to create a unique learning and party experience. This allows for the element of surprise for kids and parents—keeping the fun everlasting! She holds a certification in Hospitality/Event & Tourism Management from Florida Atlantic University.
As a servant leader, Katrina is also a Party Coordinator with The Birthday Party Project, a non-profit organization that provides birthday parties to children experiencing homelessness in shelters in the Atlanta area. She is dedicated to volunteering each month to provide birthday parties to families. During the holidays, Katrina partnered with two non-profits, Go Beyond Your Knowledge and RVC Committee to host St. Nicholas Dashes into Riverview, a Christmas event for kids in a public housing community. The kids enjoyed sharing their wishes with St. Nicholas while playing games and receiving gifts. She has volunteered as a facilitator for youth financial literacy empowerment workshops. She was able to leverage her Bachelor of Science in Justice & Public Safety/Juvenile Justice from Auburn University/Montgomery and is an advocate for children, instilling that the path of life is all driven by choices of life and determination.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?The road of starting a new business has been an adventurous and rewarding journey. Addy & Al’s was launched in September 2019. We launched the business with Children POP UP Parties at various venues throughout Atlanta and surrounding areas. We experienced a lot of successes, traction and great momentum to include several events in the pipeline. As a new company, it is imperative to create brand awareness and build a customer base. When COVID-19 arrived, it not only halted our operations due to restrictions for events but it also presented new opportunities. In life with every obstacle, there is an opportunity, so in response to COVID-19, we pivoted our business model and launched virtual parties throughout the United States to include “A Party In A Box” which can be delivered with all-party items to create a memorable experience safely at home.
