Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamell NYT.
Jamell NYT is a singer-songwriter-producer who’s been making a lot of noise in NYC.
In the summer of 2017, NYT left his home town of Burlington Vt for NYC to chase his dreams of becoming a successful singer. Not having any connections, NYT took to the subways earning money for signing and handing out business cards to commuters on the train. His high energy, infectious performance, and personality quickly landed him on One of New York city’s biggest vlogs “Subway Creatures.”
And shortly after landed him another gig playing guitar on FOX TV on The Steve Harvey show for the 2019 ball drop in time square with Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger!!!
Jamell NYT is well known in the city for consistently being a hard worker and, in the summer of 2019, was asked to perform live on Good morning America as Ciara’s opening act. The possibilities are endless for Jamell NYT, although currently unsigned, NYT works closely with management company Jusnome Ent and runs his own production company Nawty Boi which is providing professional production, publishing, and promotional services for major and independent artists.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Money has always been the hugest challenge for me. I’m an orphan, so I have no family support and playing the train didn’t leave much room for anything after paying bills. I’ve worked three jobs for the last few years just to support my music habit, so It’s been a long journey.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m an instrumentalist. I play guitar, piano, bass, I produce, write, engineer, and promote my music independently from my company Nawty BOi. My music has a positive message, intended to uplift, inspire, motivate, and educate the listener. I spend the other half of my time mentoring students, teaching them how to play guitar, vocals, and the Positive impact that music has on the soul.
I think what sets me apart as an artist is my story, my resilience, and my Versatility. I literally started my career playing in the subwaY and after only a few years of grinding, I was able to play Time Square on Fox TV For the Steve Harvey Show during the NYE ball drop with Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I honestly keep my faith in the lord. I’ve been blessed with so many gifts and opportunities I give all the glory to the father. I think my relationship with God has played the largest role in my music because it makes me conscious of my image and the relationships I keep.
