Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Jones.
Danielle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since high school, I knew I wanted to learn more about why people thought and behaved the way they did. After taking an AP Psychology class, I realized what I wanted to major in once I got to college (Hampton University). After numerous major changes, I settled on Sociology with a minor in Psychology. I had plans to get my PsyD. immediately after undergrad, but God had other plans. I ended up moving back to Atlanta, and attending Mercer University to obtain my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I had no idea what counseling or being a therapist was, I only knew about psychologists and psychiatrists. Learning that there was a job that combined my love my talking to people and giving them guidance made me so happy. I had the opportunity to work with detained juveniles and fell in love with this population. Seeing so many young people who just needed the right guidance making so many bad decisions broke my heart. I always knew I wanted to create a business to help teens and young adults, but it wasn’t until I met my fiancé’, Brian, that I actually put it into place. Through him pushing me, I was able to start L.O.V.E. LLC in May 2019.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road getting L.O.V.E. LLC started. Figuring out the direction of my business is probably what took me the longest. I knew I didn’t want to be a therapist for the rest of my life, but I also knew I loved talking about mental health and giving the information to others. In order to provide therapy, I had to complete the paperwork to become fully licensed – which ended up taking me four months instead of two months. This almost got me discouraged, but then I realized I needed the extra time to get other areas of my business developed. Every day is a learning experience when having a private practice, dealing with insurance, learning new Software’s, etc. Also getting used to going out of my comfort zone when it came to social media was a struggle for me. I honestly do not like the sound of my voice, so making videos on Instagram was such a struggle in the beginning, but I had to just get over it and do it.
L.O.V.E. LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
L.O.V.E. stands for Lasting Openness that Vibrates Effortlessly. This name symbolizes an effortless process done through a love of you prioritizing your mental health. Embracing your mental health triumphs and struggles requires an openness that at first will not come effortlessly, but can be developed through guidance and encouragement.
L.O.V.E. utilizes various approaches to assist their clients with prioritizing their mental health. Services offered are individual counseling sessions, mental health workshops for all ages, and providing mental health insight as panelist or speaker. L.O.V.E. specializes in assisting people through life transitions especially teens and young adults. Life transitions can often cause us to feel like we have a mental health disorder, but sometimes we just need to process what’s going on with an outside source.
L.O.V.E. is most known for Tea with Danielle – my Instagram page. Many people think my business is called Tea with Danielle, but it’s actually the community engagement piece of L.O.V.E. LLC. Through my Instagram, I post daily mental health tips, encouragement, infographics, etc. to make mental health more relatable to a larger group of people. Through Tea with Danielle people are able to see they are not alone with their feelings, and that literally everything can be tied back to mental health. There is so much more to mental health than depression and anxiety, and my Instagram shows people in an inviting way.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Whew! Let me just say that my support system is the BEST. Like I literally thank God every day for blessing me with the people he has put into my life. My parents Roger and Wanda, have always been supportive of whatever I wanted to do in life, even when they didn’t understand what exactly I was doing. My little brother, Andrew, who is pretty much my best friend has always pushed me even when I wanted to give up. Knowing that he looks up to me is a constant motivation to continue with my dreams. My older brother, Corey, has always told me how proud he is of his “suga bear princess” and to keep going! My best friends have been so supportive from the very beginning, whether it was giving me content for Tea with Danielle, reposting my posts, or just being a listening ear when I was stressed. I definitely couldn’t have gotten this far without them. And to my ULTIMATE cheerleader, that NONE of this would be possible without him, my amazing fiancé’ Brian. He never allows me to stay within my comfort zone, and constantly pushes me even when I give him a side eye (LOL). He is always there when I need to bounce ideas off of him or ask for advice, no matter how tired he is from working his 9-5 and running his own business. I am forever grateful for all of the people God has placed in my life!
