Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty Anderson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started photography a year ago. I’ve always been intrigued by colors, clarity and creative expression but was overwhelmed with the amount of work that goes into it. I remember about eight years ago running across celebrity photographer Derek Blanks work in a magazine, then again on television and saying to myself I would love to be as creative as he is. Let’s fast forward many years later and now I intern with him and this has been the best experience. He is all for helping me grow my own company and referrals. I’m originally from Houston, Texas and that’s where all my connections were, but I teamed up with SoAtlanta and the owner Satchel has really given me opportunities as well here in the Atlanta area.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Photography is not an easy nor smooth road. When I first started, I didn’t know where to begin or what I needed to know. I reached out to a few people for help or ideas and only got back bare minimum information. I then pulled out my laptop and started attending YouTube University and there is where I found many great teachers. This gave me a starting place. As I would call all my friends to do test shots, things started to make sense. There were times when my heart would race because of me not being sure to produce what the clients wanted, but a good friend would stay up all night while I sent her my edits and she would be completely honest and tell me what didn’t look right or if I was headed in the right direction. This allowed me to become more confident in my work.

My business is Knox Photography LLC. I specialize in Portraits. I’ve been known for how clear, creative and colorful my pictures are. The thing that I’m most proud of about my company is that it’s built on love, creativity and goal achievement… What sets my company apart from others is the ambiance and professionalism that I provide.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future include expanding my clientele globally, creating a workspace for underprivileged kids that are into photography and eventually hosting educational seminars for up and coming photographers.
