M. Williams, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My husband & I opened Sugar Salon in 2008 in an upscale Retail Plaza & the Recession started 2 to 3 months later yet our brand new business survived.
We had a Team of Commission Hair Stylist’s & my husband & I built a very solid Database of clients by consistently marketing & offering great client services.
We went on to earn many Business Awards & after 12 years in the same location, we downsized to two Salon Suite locations in Suwanee & Cumming.
We found that the clients love the “one on one” services that we can now offer in our Salon Suite locations, especially during the Covid19 Pandemic. Offering services in a “Covid19 Compliant” Salon.
As our brand continues to grow, we continue to offer integrity in this Industry by offering: competitive pricing, a friendly atmosphere, over 30 years of experience & professional services along with a passion for what I do. We plan on continuing to offer a professional location & superb service for the beautiful people of Atlanta.
Has it been a smooth road?
Indeed opening a brand new Salon & establishing a brand, as well as building a solid client database takes a lot of: time, effort, heart, money & client services. The Pandemic has not seemed to have affected the business at all, I have actually been busier since the Pandemic started because my clients trust me, as well as new clients are setting a higher standard & higher expectations from their Service Providers & I am happy to know that they are finding & choosing me.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sugar Salon story. Tell us more about the business.
I think what the clients have come to experience & expect from me is: passion, professionalism, integrity, over 30 years of experience & promptness. I don’t believe in disrespecting my clients time, I am certain to have them in & out, as well as educate my clients on: products, aftercare, & so much more.
I am a “Georgia Peach” born & raised in GA, therefore I honestly love people & I am certain that they can feel the love & the good energy. Nowadays, clients are not looking to be taken for granted & they shouldn’t be; clients deserve to be shown that they are appreciated.
I specialize in: natural hair, braids, cut/color, microlink extensions & other extension methods & more! With over 30 years in the industry, I offer a plethora of services.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I believe that integrity will be coming back to the Hair Industry because I feel that clients are setting higher expectations on their Service Providers & I feel that those who don’t “rise to the occasion” will: have less clients, earn less income & will have to strive to go to the next level to survive the high expectations that the clients are seeking. I think the clients will not settle for less than the best & for those who are providing a high standard of service will continue to have a solid database of clients to serve.
