Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Pettit.
Anna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began my photography journey by wandering around taking pictures on my old phone during middle school. These images varied from nature, portraits, to even pets. I quickly learned that I enjoyed photography. After years of dabbling, I was finally able to purchase a camera. It was shortly after that I created AnnaBeth Photography. I started taking pictures of my friends and seniors, which allowed me to practice my craft, all while falling in love with photography even more. I felt so inspired as I could help others see how beautiful they truly are. Photography became a creative outlet that allowed me to express myself while producing something that others could also enjoy. By my junior year of high school, I had been able to establish a consistent passion, and have been following it since. AnnaBeth Photography has allowed me to work and meet so many wonderful people. I am so thankful for all of the wonderful people I have collaborated with because without them, I would be museless. I think one of my favorite things about photography is being able to capture the essence of the individual’s soul and tell their story through an image. Since attending college, I have been able to reach more people and push myself to create more.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road for AnnaBeth Photography. At first, I struggled in finding individuals that wanted to work together. I had the passion, but my experience level was not at some’s standards. I worked hard to produce quality work and began practicing more and more. Eventually after discovering my creative taste, I have been able to create a consistent style of work. Building confidence in my images took some time, but I am now able to embrace the learning impact behind each image I create. Another thing I struggled with was creator’s block, I wanted to create new exciting images, but I was scared to try these new ideas. After much consideration, I began to embrace these new ideas, and to my surprise, many others enjoyed my work.
AnnaBeth Photography – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I established AnnaBeth Photography as an outlet that allows myself and others to capture some of the most raw and beautiful moments in life. I mostly specialize in senior pictures, couples, newborns, maternity, and special events. I work with seniors the most though! I find joy in helping them celebrate all of their hard work throughout the years. I try to show my client’s true personality through the images. I am a firm believer that the small things are what makes a moment feel blissful and it’s my job to capture those moments. Whether it be a long belly laugh, to the way lovers look at each other, or the glow of a newborn, the small things matter the most to me. One of my goals is to reflect these tender moments back into my work, but my biggest goal is to allow my client to feel beautiful, happy, and supported. Authentic images occur when one is embracing who they truly are. AnnaBeth Photography is based off of bettering this world and focusing on the positive aspects surrounding our daily lives.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I look forward to expanding my horizons in photography and hope to explore all aspects. Photography is ever changing, and I am forever learning new things every day. One of my main goals is to begin capturing more weddings and special events. I am still planning to continue to work I am based off of, but also hope to start implementing more creative styled shoots into my work.
