Today we’d like to introduce you to Damien and Kenady Nash.
Damien and Kenady, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Our story begins in 2014, where we met each other while serving at a Young Adult Ministry called Fusion at Victory Church. I (Kenady) actually sat behind Damien at church and we would have small-talk right before service. He believed I was stalking him, but it was only coincidental! Over the next four years, we remained distant friends, cracking jokes here and there whenever we passed by each other.
Fast forward to February of 2018, I (Damien) was scrolling on Facebook when one of Kenady’s pictures caught my attention. I slid into her DMs on Facebook to shoot my shot. We continued to message each other back and forth every day for about two weeks. One day, I decided to boldly ask for her number but got denied for numerous reasons! For several weeks, we continued to talk via Facebook messaging and sometimes even Facebook Audio. As we got to know each other more, Kenady would jokingly give me a few of her digits periodically– all but her last four digits. On April 4, 2018, I asked Kenady on a date to walk up Stone Mountain. On top of the Mountain, I surprised her with a gift and a nice handwritten note, asking for her hand in courtship. She said yes, but she also handed me a thoughtful handwritten note. At the bottom of the note, it had the day’s date: 4.8.18 and in parenthesis, “not just today’s date but also the last four digits of my phone number”. The day I made it official was the exact same numbers of her last four digits. We knew God was in the works of writing a crazy love story. We got married on September 22, 2019, yet our love story continues.
As we were courting, we realized we had the same passion and God-given purpose. Together, we share the desire to help people become healthy individuals and cultivate healthy relationships that honors God. We started our YouTube Channel called “Damien and Kenady” early in our courtship to deliver content that supports this passion. Individually, I (Damien) am an author and Certified Growth (Life) Coach whereas Kenady is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian in the state of Georgia. Our content covers self-help from personal, relational, spiritual, and physical under the name of Completely You 365.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our struggles, for us, happened on personal levels prior to meeting each other. From very early in my life, I (Damien) had a strong desire to live for God, to have a healthy family and to live pure. As a child, I even told my parents that I wanted to be a virgin until I got married. Since my father was a pastor, a marriage counselor, and a teacher, I grew up seeing all types of conflicts and situations within marriages. This left an even greater desire to have a strong, healthy marriage of my own one day. This deep desire, however, turned into an idol and left a void in my heart. In college, I looked to sports for validation, struggled with suicidal thoughts, and fell into pornography. I struggled with a porn addiction all the way up to my early 30’s. After help from my accountability partners, receiving prayer and deleting certain social media accounts, I committed my life fully to Jesus Christ, surrendering my sexuality to Christ completely. I recognized that it is by the power of the Holy Spirit that I have been set free of this addiction. Finally, after reconnecting with Kenady and hearing her heart for healthy families and purity, I just knew I was going to marry her. At the age of 35, I was able to save myself for her until our wedding night. All glory to God.
As for me (Kenady), my struggles in the past have been with dysfunctional relationships and even alcohol abuse. Dealing with sexual abuse and not knowing my worth, I found myself in ‘situationships’ that looked nothing like what God intended for His Daughters. As I rededicated my life to Jesus and allowed Him to bring healing into my life, I began an imperfect journey of walking in purity and not settling for less. As mentioned before, I was hesitant to give Damien my number. The reason being was because I made a vow to myself that I would not give my number to anyone out of loneliness but only to someone who I felt like God was bringing into my life. Within a few weeks, I had confirmation and peace that Damien was the person God had for me. By the grace of God, we were able to wait until marriage to have sex with each other because we wanted to dedicate our lives and our marriage to Jesus. That in and of itself was a STRUGGLE. We believe no matter our past, we can choose today to honor God in our lives and in our relationships. We take our past experiences of dysfunction and our love for God to fuel our passion to see people healed and in healthy, godly relationships. Our heart is burdened when we see broken families and broken people. We want to do whatever we can to see people, the family unit, and marriages restored.
Completely You 365 – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our company’s name is Completely Your 365, LLC. Our tagline is, We Deliver Potential®. We truly believe that every human being is born with potential inside of them. However, sometimes this person may lack vision to see this potential come to fruition. We specialize in walking alongside individuals who desire clarity in purpose, relationships, and life goals. One of the major ways we help individuals is through our free content via our YouTube Channel, under the name “Damien and Kenady”. We have also written books, created curriculum, spoken at conferences, as well as facilitated various training and coaching sessions.
As far as something we are proud of, we have written several books from children’s books to self-help books. However, the project we are most proud of at the moment is our newest book that we co-authored together while courting called #CompletelyMarried: Journey to the Altar and Beyond, launching September 22nd, 2020 on Amazon. The significance of this date is that it’s our one-year wedding anniversary.
I (Damien) wrote the prequel to this book titled #CompletelySingle: Learning How to Become the Right One Before Meeting the Right One in 2015. After rereading it and applying the biblical principles within the book, I found my now wife (Kenady).
I think what sets us apart is our transparency and authenticity that is displayed in everything that we do. We are not ashamed to share our testimony of how Jesus has saved us so that others too may become healed and live the lives that they were created for.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
There are several characteristics that we lean on in our lives. We see success differently. We would say we are motivated to live a significant life over a successful one because success can sometimes be all about us whereas significance focuses on impacting others. Our Faith in Jesus is what fuels us to have a significant life. Everything we do is for the glory of God. We are called to be a light and have compassion on others.
We have a Vision for living a significant life. Our Vision is for the entire family. We believe we have been called bring back order to the family structure globally. Our main goal is to help decrease the divorce rate before we leave this earth.
Consistency is necessary to live a significant life. People usually don’t just wake up and instantly become successful or significant. It takes hard work, discipline, and consistency. This is something we have stood by since the beginning when creating our YouTube channel and writing our books. We won’t always know or see right away whether we are actually making a difference. However, if you continue to faithfully water the seeds you’ve planted, something will eventually grow. When you have found your passion and believe in the purpose that God has called you to, you have a greater drive to remain consistent.
Lastly, we would say Integrity is paramount in living a significant life. Our late father was a man who lived by this. We seek to live by a moral uprightness, where we not only display God’s love but also His character in the earth. We know that your character and actions can make or break everything you build. We don’t want the things we do to taint our image, but more importantly, the image of God. This is why we use the moral principles from our faith and actually try to apply it to our daily walk. “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.” Warren Buffett
