Meet Brian Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Jones.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My whole life I had a dream to make it to the NBA and I fell short of that dream, but I loved the game so much that just couldn’t leave it alone. It took time to figure out but using that failure, I stumbled across my passion to train. I enjoyed putting myself through workouts and seeing the results. I didn’t mind being in the gym for hours, and I always researched and studied everything about the game. While I was studying, I figured out that NBA players worked on their bodies and did fitness workouts too. As I learned more about that, my interest in that grew and I realized the need to be physically fit and strong to become a better player. Now I’m focusing my efforts and dedicating the rest of my life to learning about how to use this knowledge to help other people reach their dreams or simply reach new levels within themselves through basketball.

Has it been a smooth road?
My biggest struggle(s) I had to overcome and I am still fighting against is me. Fighting for my confidence, my self-discipline, and my focus on the right things. I would always stop myself short of what I could have been because let other people’s fears and insecurities get to me and at some point, they controlled me. Now I am finally getting my control and authority back. I have also had to fight the feeling that I didn’t have any support or help, and the fact that I got cut from the team. Those things affected my confidence and that lack of confidence affected my discipline. That is why I didn’t make it to my initial goals, but I am learning to use those failures as examples to learn from and using it for myself and the players I train so they can make it to where I dreamed of going.

BeBall Jones – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a basketball trainer and entrepreneur. I like to say that I’m an ‘entrepreneur in the making’ since I’m not there fully yet. Part of what makes me special and stand out is that I offer the skills development and fitness training for basketball. I’m covering both sides of basketball training when most are only doing one or the other. I also focus on the mind and the mental game of basketball. I speak on confidence, giving perspective, their mindset in different situations and how to think through problems they have. They have to train their minds to understand the game of basketball, how to react and process the information and situations thrown at them along with handling life off the court and with their mental health.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I don’t like that we are so divided, have a pessimistic or untrustworthy view of everybody and that we are slow to act and react to situations. I do like that we are starting to see some change and beginning to have some great growth.
