Today we’d like to introduce you to Chakari Mobley.
Chakari, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My husband is a truck driver and he desperately wanted to purchase his own truck. I was unsure that it was the right move, but trusting him, we decided to purchase the truck. He originally leased the truck on with a larger company and paid them a percentage. I felt that I could do what the company was doing for him and we could cut them out. I began researching and studying the trucking industry. Needless to say, I took the information I learned, started my own operating authority, leased my husband on as my first owner-operator, and we’ve been rolling every since.
Has it been a smooth road?
It had been far from a smooth road. I had so many hurdles along the way. Some of the struggles included drivers misusing company funds, drivers threaten by a female owner, drivers late on deliveries, drivers getting towed, truck repairs and maintenance, I could go on and on. I’ve had a driver drive a unit off a cliff and a driver’s unit catch on fire in the middle of 285. So struggles I have definitely had. I’ve learned that struggles are what make you. My ability to problem solve, adapt, and keep rolling is what makes me stronger.

LandKing Logistics Corp. is a trucking company located in McDonough, Georgia. We are ready to serve with our long haul, regional and local freight services. Our fleet consists of 10 tractor power units and 25 53’ foot dry van trailers. Our professional drivers have the expertise to ensure safe and on-time delivery.
I am proud of everything that Land King Logistics has accomplished. I entered into a field that I knew nothing about, and I’ve managed to create a variety of income in it. Not only do I make money off the power units, I offer consulting services to clients interested in getting into trucking. Ranging from operations set up, tag registration set up, daily operations training, route management, and broker training. Land King Logistics leases trailers to larger companies for storage. I am currently looking for a space to purchase to open a diesel mechanic shop.
What sets Land King Logistics apart from other companies is our ability to offer personalized services to our clients. Most of our clients are warehouses and distribution centers. We take their freight to the retailers. They are used to using big companies that have so much going on. Freight is hard to track, it’s hard to get people on the phone, and it’s hard to get the same person more than once, overall it’s just hard to get that personal attention. At Land King, we have a small courteous staff. Everyone can help you and if we can’t, we can get you to your dispatcher 24/7. We tailor our services to the client’s needs. We even offer expedited service, which customers love. So I think that we have truly created a positive, caring reputation with our customers and our drivers.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I do feel that Atlanta is a great place to start a business in this industry. Atlanta is a freight hub. Meaning there is a ton of freight going out of, coming to, or going through Atlanta daily. And trust me, there’s enough money for us all.
