Thanks for sharing your story with us Shaáwn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I graduated from Alabama A&M University, I was lost. I had my BS in Biology with a minor in Pre- Occupational Health. When I was in school, no one stressed to me the importance of having experience, only masking good grades, so because of that I was discouraged and lost after graduation. I started to look into different things, and a close friend of mine mentioned becoming an esthetician, and it went from there.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting my business, I was so fearful because I worked two jobs. So transitioning from waxing and selling natural skincare products, when I could squeeze in time, to doing it full time was beyond scary to me. I had been asking God for a sign for me to quit my jobs, but never received one, and if I did, I wasn’t paying attention. But in January, I was in a bad car accident, where I was hit head-on at 70 mph. The doctors told me that I was lucky to walk away with nothing but a few broken bones and stitches, because people don’t walk away from accidents like that. At that point, I could no longer work my two jobs due to my injuries. I was eventually terminated and forced to figure out how I was going to make ends meet. So, at that point, I knew that God was sending me a sign to use my gift and fulfill my calling that I had been trying to avoid. I said all of that to say that I’ve struggled with my faith during my journey. But God continues to bless me and shows me that this is what I’m supposed to do, and that I’ve chosen the right career path.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bodied By Sha’ LLC – what should we know?
Bodied By Sha’ LLC specializes in beauty, cosmetics and personal care. I am especially known for my natural skincare products and being a wax specialist. I’m most proud at my growth during this time. My business hasn’t even been around a year, and I’ve shipped my Products to twenty-five different states, and have grown my clientele. What separates me from other companies are, I genuinely care about peoples skin. It’s not just about a dollar to me. I want everyone that experiences Bodied By Sha’ LLC, to enjoy and feel the love that I’ve put into my brand/ company. Whether it be getting a waxed, purchasing a product or getting a facial. I want you to feel bold, confident and most importantly beautiful.

The people that deserve credit are God most importantly. I couldn’t have done anything without Him. Secondly, my cousin Dej’ah. She has been with me every step of the way. She also has a business, and every time she learns something new, she shares the information and helps me come up with fresh ideas. The last person is my boyfriend. He always pushes me and encourages me along the way. It’s been many of days, where I just want to give up, but he’s always there to just listen to me and lift me up when I need a little pick me up after a discouraging day.
