Meet Greg Carter of Go-Autoworks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Carter.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Greg. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began building the business back in 99-00 while in college, doing installs on the side while working in finance and taking classes part-time. Doing this work allowed me to build a name for myself locally and also helped me pay my way through school. I continued to do the side work after graduation and focused on building an online presence through forums; long before social media was really a thing. In early 2012, a few months after my first child was born, I decided to take the leap and leave my job in finance to pursue my business and run my shop full time. I’ve been pushing and developing/building my own line of products along with custom fabrication and parts sales since then.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been “smooth” per say. I had to back myself financially throughout the process and learn to manage the time and business. I also had to teach myself the fabrication side of the business. Fortunately, managing money has never really been an “issue” for me as I’ve always been into business, saving, and creating. Jumping in full-blown after having a child made it sink or swim for me and I wasn’t going to let myself sink. The biggest “trouble” in the business currently is finding qualified and willing help/employees to form a team and further grow the business. This would allow me to both grow the business, produce faster, and free up time to pursue other subjects of interest personally as well.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Go-Autoworks story. Tell us more about the business.
Go-Autoworks specializes in forced induction, consulting, and fabrication of aftermarket automotive performance parts. Primarily for import vehicles (Honda/Acura). We primarily sell our own line of turbo kits and kit components which have all been built, designed, and/or tested in house along with accompanying brands and products on our online store.

I’m most proud of the fact that I was able to take this vision and turn it into a reality. Not just being a shop, but to be a brand. A brand that has been able to stand on its own and has been proven to be one of the best available on the market. Through the ups and downs in business over the years; I’ve always continued to push the brand and the products to keep them relevant and at the top of their respected list for the application. What sets us apart from others is the ability to tailor our kits to individuals’ needs. I make it a point to try to always deliver a great product and service customers before and after the sale if needed.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The big shift will always lean more towards custom fabrication to further push the envelope power-wise while being highly aesthetic and cosmetically pleasing. The bulk of what I do focuses on vehicles made from 1988-2005. As time passes and those get older a big part of the focus will have to turn to newer generations of vehicles for new product development.
