Today we’d like to introduce you to LaRon Williams and Dalisa Webb.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
(LaRon) Well, that story is quite funny. The business was always in me. I actually had the idea pop up in my head back in 2004 where I attempted to start the business on my own under the name Sensational Sweets. Due do a bad relationship, then bad marriage thereafter, and an unfortunate diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis where I battle really hard to keep my mobility between the years of 2011-2014. It never had the chance to manifest. It wasn’t until I separated from my ex-wife, moved back to Georgia and became introduced to my now beautiful girlfriend in 2017 that’s when things for the both us started changing in ways we couldn’t explain. I had just finalized my divorce and she just started hers. I’m an honest believer that God does things for a reason and it wasn’t a mistake at all me transferring my medication to the Walmart pharmacy that she works at. I was smitten by her from the first time I laid eyes on her. Unfortunately, she was not into me.
(Dalisa) Well, I had other things going on so no, not really.
(LaRon) That didn’t stop me from coming up to the pharmacy to get my medicine so that I could talk to her if and when she was there. That routine happens for a while before I stopped coming due to me whining myself off my medication. On top of that, I was soul searching but God yet again had a different idea for me. A sign from God convinced me to fill all of the medication I had just whined myself off of. Reluctantly I went to go get my meds and I was happily meet by Dalisa that gave me the biggest hug I’ve ever gotten from the opposite sex that I was attracted to.
(Dalisa) So he’s the only one that can tell this store because I don’t remember it happening like that.
(LaRon) Yes, it literally happened that way and that memorable day happened to be around the same time as her birthday. So I baked her a pan of my classic cinnamon rolls and met her at a gas station to deliver them only to find out that she was stood up on a date to the movies. We sat in her car and talked for maybe 30-40 minutes. That was the true beginning of our budding partnership.
(Dalisa) I was really saddened but as well thrown off because outside of knowing him from just talking to him briefly while giving him his meds. It was as though we had known each other for years. It’s like weird for me to go past that store now. I never thought that talk with him that night would end up turning out to be me finding my best friend and life partner.
(LaRon) I concur that night told me so much about her. I knew even if it was just as a friend, I wanted to have her in my life. We went out on dates and talked about both our dreams. We both talked about how we thought our marriages should’ve been and how we weren’t giving up on love.
(Dalisa) It just inspired me to know that he was battling through his symptoms of MS which he stills does on a daily bases while workings a part-time job, advocating about Multiple Sclerosis to thousands of followers on Facebook through lives on Monday’s and Fridays, as well as coaching others about relationships while starting up a business.
(LaRon) So I think we inspired each other because I totally admired how she interacted with her kids, how she worked hard caring about others at work and outside of work, and definitely can’t forget about hearing her talk about loving to make jewelry and how all of things she made were stolen. That passion I heard in her voice steamed me into buying the first of many items I’ve purchased that’s helped her start her handmade custom jewelry pieces. I’m not sure if that’s what helped her invest in me but I’m glad she did. People make think I’m weird but the first gift from her where vanilla filing folders and hanging folders. I cried because that told me she was listening to me when we talked. So I asked her to be my business partner. She had mention how her and her ex-husband were going to start up a business and I just felt we would make a great team. She is so smart and has a go getter mentality. Me… I’m alright in the smart category with a go getter mentality.
(Dalisa) I was like why not, I saw his vision as clear as day. Maybe as clear as he saw it and as he believed in me, I believed in him.
(LaRon) Yeah, so our friendship grew into business partnership to actually getting into a relationship.
(Dalisa) He had a great hand for baking and for me food is great for conversation. I became the taste tester, flavor idea giver, and critic. He slowly made his way to my heart through my stomach. We talked more and more about business and adding on and make it official. It was in the beginning of 2020 that we set forth and secured the business licenses for both Treats n Sweets and Ladie Luxurie Designs. Both of which we are pushing together as successful growing LLCs.
(LaRon) I knew somehow someway this goal was going to achieve. She doesn’t know how much I love her and how much strength it adds to me knowing I finally have someone that has my back as much as I have hers. We started off with Treats n Sweets last January and have double in sales this year. We went from 5 flavors to now we have over 20 flavors of cinnamon rolls.
(Dalisa) and I sold two pieces of jewelry last year this year we have sold… So again like I said before, I ride past that store and all I can do is shake my head. As much as LaRon tells me that God showed him and continues to show him things about us. I’m in tune with God as well but I always tell him when he says that “I don’t know what you are seeing but God isn’t showing me that). The thing about that is, even though I say that. It hasn’t deterred him.
(LaRon) I asked God to send me someone worthy of having me and that I would do whatever it takes to be that someone she can always count on. That’s why I’m not only fighting for myself but as well for my family. I love seeing them smile, love seeing her smile especially. I’m thankful that she is my friend first, my business partner, and my woman. I wouldn’t want to take this journey with anyone else.
(Dalisa) Neither would I!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was smooth until the COVID-19 epidemic hit which caused sale to go down. As of now, since things have started to reopen sales have started picking back up.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Treats n Sweets is an at home bakery that specializes in and is known for its unique flavors of cinnamon rolls. We were definitely proud when we received the business license in the mail. Our 20 flavors are unheard of and has our customers amazed once they hear what flavors we offer.
What were you like growing up?
(LaRon) Shy when it came to being around others but I was very playful, talkative, and joke A lot around friends and family
(Dalisa) Quite, shy, and mostly stayed to myself.
