Meet Mikayla Evans of Credit Vision

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikayla Evans.

Mikayla, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, I never saw what financial wellness was. I spent most of my life watching my mom put all of her time into just trying to “make it.” She never really had the road map to creating generational wealth, and I remember watching her struggle to make us happy all while trying to figure out what that meant for herself. My father, her bestfriend, was murdered when I was 3.5, so most of my life I watched her mourn that loss. My mom always called me her “backbone,” and my entire life I’ve spent my time trying to give her access to the things I felt she deserved. My mom was my inspiration to start my personal and business credit consulting firm. Back in 2015, I got pregnant with my daughter, and I was suddenly overwhelmed with a fear that my daughter would worry about me in the same ways I had worried about my mom. It was this “fear” that motivated me to begin learning about financial wellness. I began a long journey learning about what credit was and how I could establish great credit. I started off building out my own credit and then applied the same principles to my mother’s credit. I removed the derogatory items and created a financial plan for my mother to adhere to. Counseling her led me to start helping family and friends around me. I loved the feeling of helping my loved ones create a new financial existence.

For most it was unheard of within their families for anyone to have “good credit.” My grandfather passed away from stage 4 cancer this past fall, 9/11/2019. It was one of the biggest blows I had taken, hadn’t felt that type of sorrow since my youngest brother got sick in 2006. Something in me changed. I felt like there was so much he should have seen me do. There was so much I should have done for him in exchange for all that he had done for our family growing up. Nonetheless, God makes no mistakes, and had He not called my grandfather home I probably wouldn’t have ever taken this leap of faith. In November of last year, I got up left my accounting job at the railroad, and never looked back. I started fixing credit for free and began delving into more formal educations to solidify my skillset. I connected with as many people in the industry as I could and invested in whatever paid mentorships I could. I learned the good, the bad, and the ugly and I ran with it. I established Credit Vision Inc. simply by starting an Instagram account.

By the grace of God, I connected with so many people so quick. One client turned into two, which turned to three, and so on and so forth. I invested in brand ambassadors, paid promo, client management software, and anything else I could do to make the brand strong. Slowly but surely people on my personal social media began to see the vision and referrals began to pour in. Since then, I have helped over 200 people restore their personal and business credit. It has been less than a year since I started and the results and testimonials have been amazing. Sometimes I sit back and wonder it my father or grandfather think I have done them justice. It’s so funny how you every time this crosses my mind, I’ll get a call or message from a client about how thankful they are. I have to believe that serves as confirmation I am doing quite alright. Above all else, however, my momma told me she’s proud and she doesn’t have to struggle anymore so that in itself lets me know I “Made It!”

Has it been a smooth road?
In the beginning, very few saw the vision. How could this young girl, who struggled growing up, tell anyone about how to be “wealthy?” I felt this was the constant struggle within myself in the beginning. It wasn’t even that others didn’t see it, it was that I let them blur my vision. Overcoming that was only accomplished by getting closer to God. Spiritually, I had to see His vision for myself and take heed to that purpose. The more I saw, the more I believed. There were so many who didn’t want to help, didn’t want to believe, didn’t want to encourage me. Therefore, self-motivation was key. But once I got my spirit right, everything else seemed to fall in line. I no longer had to “prove” anything. It was like God said to me, “How will they believe, when you don’t?” It is when I harnessed belief that I found this endless bit of perseverance. Since then, every challenge is conquered with ease.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Credit Vision Inc story. Tell us more about the business.
Credit Vision Inc is a personal and business personal finance consulting firm. We specialize in personal credit restoration. Our “vision” is to show our clients their future without focus on their past. We aid in removal of derogatory items that negatively impact consumer credit scores. Upon removal, we then provide financial coaching on building and maintaining this newly found financial freedom. We pride ourselves on the value found in our journey. It is not just a quick fix for us. We travel the road with our clients and guide them over every barrier that they may encounter. Our goal is to build generational wealth. Wealth is not monetary, it is a mindset. Therefore our program is about more than just a “good” credit score. We break old habits and replace them with new ones. In doing so, we pave the way for generations and establish new standards for finances.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The credit industry is forever changing. That is why it is so important to stay abreast and connected to information. This means learning about new legislations and technologies that pertain to the credit bureau processing and client management. COVID-19 has proved to be a major game-changer as far as delaying dispute time frames, however, success is still had in the long-run. The key to success in times like this is communication, and I personally have revamped my client interface during this time. You can never communicate too much. Overall though, I see great things to come in this industry.
