Today we’d like to introduce you to Cor’Darrius Powell.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
They call me “The Mailman” because I always deliver! I use to fight a lot as an adolescent. When I was sixteen, my older brother (Steven) started boxing. He always knew that the sport of boxing was more of my niche. So, he told me to come to the boxing gym since I wanted to keep getting suspended from school. I never lost a fight in the street or in school, so I figured that I was tough, sparred a guy that had more boxing IQ than me and then I realized that I didn’t know much about defending myself. For me, it was love at first sight. Boxing is my life until this current day.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth path. There’s a lot of lonely days. Being the man that I am, I know that I’m very prideful. I started when I was sixteen and never liked asking anyone for anything. I don’t like owing anyone. Being prideful is my largest obstacle.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Prolific Boxing story. Tell us more about the business.
I started Prolific Boxing in 2017 when I returned back to the sport as an adult. I specialize in getting anyone in shape, trained for a match, or just defending themselves in general. I’m known for making the sport of boxing enjoyable with my focus mitt combinations. I’m proud of myself for putting myself out there to show people something new. What sets me apart is that I can only offer my trainee the purest form of me and I focus on one on one training. Most gyms have their favorite fighters, everyone I train is equal.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t call it luck, but I believe that I’m truly blessed that I have a great support system and that I’m am willing do what I’m called to do on earth.
