Meet Angela Aponte of Metro Cleaning Services of Cobb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Aponte.

Angela, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I moved to Georgia with my then 1 year old son Christopher from California in 1997, whey my ex-husband was relocated with his employment. After our divorce in 2000, I found myself a single mother and eventually remarried to my second ex-husband, who in 2003 found himself without employment. I myself at the time was gainfully employed with a major fortune 500 company, however, felt the need to do something to help my husband and that is where Metro Cleaning Services, LLC arose. As the business grew, it became Metro Cleaning Services of Cobb, Inc., MCS of Cobb. I had my second child Amanda in 2003, continued to work a full-time job and support my then husband in the cleaning business, then my third child Alan was born in 2006. I continued to work full time, my business and struggle through a marriage, which disintegrated in 2010. I found myself a single mother of 3, working 2 jobs to keep it together, as my ex-husband’s wages were minimal and so was child support. It turned out that what I had started as a mean of supplementing his income, turned into a blessing for myself and my children.

There were a lot of sacrifices, my kids spend a lot of nights at their grandmother’s, I could not have done it without her help. Now, my business continues to grow, although not a major company, I like to keep it family owned and operated. I bless others with employment and am slowly taking the management role and not the cleaning role. I expect and demand quality from those who work with me, (I never tell people they work for me, I say they work with me. There have been many, many times I have been there with them, cleaning by their side. I will actually do the dirty cleaning, I don’t want anyone to feel less than me, nor I want to feel more than anyone) I expect them to give the same quality I give. I always say, you pay little or you pay a lot, you will get the same level of quality from me. I am currently very blessed and very happily married to my husband Jonathan Aponte, my eldest son in a United States Marine, and I proudly carry the title “Marine Corps Mom”. My daughter is 13 and my youngest son is 11 and they are both in middle school. I look back at all those long days and nights of work and do not regret one thing, I know God did it all for me to be here where I am today.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road, 2 jobs and 3 kids and single. I was the one who paid the bills, took kids to the Dr, was involved in all school meeting, extracurricular activities, sick days. It was long days at my full-time job and long nights in my business. Thank God it happened when I was a lot younger.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Metro Cleaning Services of Cobb, Inc. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a Commercial Janitorial Company, servicing the areas of Acworth, Woodstock, Kennesaw and Marietta. Any time someone calls me for residential cleaning, I will bless one of my employees with the opportunity to earn the income.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking forward to growth, the company I have been working for the past 18 years, although a strong solid company, has been going through a lot of changes, and relocating a lot of their positions to Mexico. The future with them is uncertain and I need to be prepared. I also look forward to growing so I can continue to bless those around me with employment.
