Today we’d like to introduce you to Syneca Beach.
Syneca, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was younger, I always thought radio hosts had the most amazing jobs. They got to meet and interview famous people, they attended all of the fancy parties, and they were almost mysterious because most of the time you could only recognize them by their voices. I had dreams of becoming a radio host, but I never thought it was an attainable career for me. I didn’t know anyone in the radio field and I was raised to believe that I had to have a solid 9-5 career with a solid annual salary.
Well, in 2019, I had to have surgery, so I was home for some time recovering. During this time, I discovered
podcasts and I became obsessed listening to all types of shows. Honestly, I had heard of podcasts, but I’d never really listened to one. As I was listening to all of these shows, the thought popped in my head, “We could do this.” The idea of the show was getting my girls together, grabbing a bottle of wine and just having our regular conversations. I brought the idea to the other hosts, Tiara and Melodye, and Sistas and Sauvignon was born.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh no, it’s been a doozy. It’s definitely a learning process. My technology experience prior to creating Sistas and Sauvignon was very limited. I somehow believed that all we needed was a mic and magically, the podcast would get to where it needed to be. Ha! that is not the case at all. I’ve purchased and returned several pieces of equipment and software. I’ve watched a ton of videos on creating podcasts. We’re still in the beginning stages, so you can slowly see the learning process through each episode. I’m enjoying the process, though. I get really excited when we record and when it’s time to edit.
Please tell us about Sistas & Sauvignon Podcast.
Sistas & Sauvignon is a podcast geared towards women. We discuss everything from our own personal lives to the current events that are happening in the world. I’m super proud of the show itself. I’m excited to see where we take this new platform that we have created.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Definitely my co-hosts, Tiara and Melodye. As soon as I brought this idea to them, they were both so supportive. This was something that none of us had ever really experienced before. And they were both willing to step outside of their comfort zones to support me. Honestly, all of my friends and family have been my cheerleaders throughout this process.
