Meet Paul (L’Wren) Hightower of Visionaire Records in Clayton County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Hightower.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Paul. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been rapping for as long as I can remember, but I started taking it serious in 2013. I bounced around from name to name until I found L’Wren. Once I settled on my artist name, it was time to figure out my Label/Team name, which became Visionaire Records in 2018.

This Label consists of five other people, Phunkadelique, Devontae Isaiah, Dave B., Prod. Bruh Rashad, and DJ Huncho. We started with having no music out at all. Now we have three albums and a plethora of singles. We have a Vlog for everyone to get to know us better and a shop to purchase label merchandise. COVID – 19 has kind of halted progress, but we are still looking into performing shows!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, the road has been FAR from smooth. At first, it was just me, Phunk and D.I on the label, with NO knowledge on how to do anything but make music. The business aspect was non-existent until we met Dave B. My biggest obstacle has been meeting deadlines because of creative doubts. Also, for unknown reasons, my latest album, ‘Lost Island,’ was removed from Apple Music but we worked hard to fix the issue and get it available for all streaming platforms again!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
We create art in the form of music, photography and cinematography. We are more than just a record label. We are looking into creating our own web series and movies. I am most proud of how family oriented we are. We work together as a unit.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Everyone on this label deserves the most recognition for mentoring me and believing in me every step of the way! Aside from my partners on my label, four other artists/producers have been there for me in a major way! There’s MyKell, who is a singer that keeps me grounded mentally and mentors me with my voice. VonVon, who is someone that I met on Georgia Southern Campus who inspired me to have fun with my music and keep an open mind. Azor, who’s a producer from Screven County, taught me everything I know about recording myself. Last, B.A.D is a rapper from Screven County who has been someone I’ve turned to since 2013 about music and how I should handle the business.
