Meet Miss Jameka, Manager Of B.Simone Beauty in Downtonwn Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miss Jameka.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Miss Jameka. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, it all started about 2-3 years ago wanting to move to ATL. Not knowing how not having the courage thinking of all the things that could go wrong. Things that will fail etc. Doubting the move every chance that I had. I would speak to my friends about it a lot. But it was just another topic of discussion ya know. Never putting any action behind it. There was so much going on at the time that mentally I just needed a getaway. I was grinding so hard to have a better future. Around this time, I knew I had to change some distractions around me.

Another year goes by and I feel so adamant to get my ish together, FINALLY! Now it was time to really figure out what I wanted to do and where I wanted to be. Slowly started to look for jobs and apartments in Georgia. The thought of “Being On Your Own” was the scariest thing for me. It was always maybe I can’t handle it. Maybe I’m not ready. But, eventually got to the point of forget it whatever happens, happens. Searching for places in another state is such a hassle.

Forward to June, 2019. Applied for a lot of jobs but wasn’t having too much luck. End of July early August got a response form Delta didn’t expect an answer as soon as I did. I was working at Ronald Reagan (DC) airport at the time, Got the job came for orientation middle of August past the second test. Flew out for a day and went back to MD. So excited that everything was going as planned. Took a drug test same day being that I live out of state and they needed it as soon as possible. About 2 weeks later there was a drug test mishap (do not smoke). Now this is the part where I felt like this is what I was trying to prevent any of this happening. Contacted the Delta managers let them know of the information. Unfortunately, they told me I would not be able to start. I had to wait 6 months to reapply. My heart was crushed. Ok, plan B. Apply to more jobs and try to be employed by the time I moved the following week on Sep 1st. Chaos, how was I going to make this happen?!

It is September 1st. I’m on the way to Ga. My parents didn’t even know I was moving to a whole new state alone… Still no job still no luck. Still have yet to find a home. Almost 2 months in I went through about 3 jobs for other reasons I won’t say. Hated it lol just was not satisfied. Sometime later B.Simone makes a post saying she’s hiring for B.Simone Beauty, perfect I apply they reach out to me and I go for an interview it went great. Got hired on the spot. Met her the same day she was so sweet and such a Boss. Fast forward 2 months in and I love the job and I love the environment. This was the place for me. They noticed my hard work and dedication to making sure everything works out seamlessly. They celebrate everyone’s birthday with cake, balloons etc (my fav) like exactly what I needed. Even job anniversaries. They make it a priority to celebrate every one which left me speechless. November, I moved into my first place no roommate, no co-signer. Just hard freaking work. May I get my first car and I couldn’t be more excited. Side note, Tyler Perry Studios welcomed me to ATL! Insane. Still waiting for that call too. Hey Mr. LOL!

Now, almost a year later I am the Brand/Shipping Manager for B.Simone Beauty and couldn’t be happier. We got a new building were moving into and cannot wait. I’m so grateful for this position and the love we share as a Team. B works so hard which makes us work harder. She’s so hands on which helps the business run pretty smoothly. B I just want to thank you for trusting me with your Brand to help execute your ideas etc. I wouldn’t want this journey to be any other way. I appreciate you so much. So many voids that I was trying to fill or certain things that was affecting me you’ve helped me not knowing. You’re such a genuine soul. I got you forever.

Just know I’m just getting started this is only the beginning. One thing I must say is you will never know until you try. Even with all the obstacles along the way. I would do it all over again because I did it for me and I’m happy.

“If You Don’t Fail At What You’re Trying To Do, You Not Trying Hard Enough”

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When I first moved here I had about 350$ that had to last me till whenever, this was spent on traveling to interviews which was a 1hr and 30 min commute. I was barely able to eat because I wanted to make sure I had money for transportation. Walked 3 miles every day to make sure the orders got shipped out. Money got short days got longer. Family who was helping me basically put me out on the street because I wasn’t making money at the time to help with bills which they knew of. Mentally wanting to give up had a friend who suggested I should move back to MD. which was not an option. I was so determined to make it work
