Meet Isha Koroma of POSH.FEM

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isha Koroma.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Isha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My clothing line POSH.FEM is a little over two years now, and it derived from my genuine love for fashion. Growing up (and for the most part now) I was super shy, but through the outfits I styled together, I could possess the biggest voice in the room. It is through the clothes I wear that I can fully embody my personality, my feelings and mood. I used this love of fashion to fuel my passion in embarking on my first entrepreneurial venture. I thought why not do something I love, and that truly comes natural to me. Growing up as the first-generation American and first-generation college student of my family, both of my parents migrated from Sierra Leone, West Africa to give me and my siblings better opportunities. They’ve always taught me the value of hard work and dedication in Life and that is something I look to for strength on a daily basis.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road!! I think the biggest challenge for me has been gaining that authentic exposure. I don’t have a huge amount of followers, connections, so I know my brand has to speak for itself, which can be daunting sometimes, but I know when I do get to that point where everyone is familiar with POSH.FEM it will be because my hard work paid off. I’m excited!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about POSH.FEM – what should we know?
POSH.FEM is designed with the poised woman at the center. The POSH.FEM woman takes charge in her daily professional and personal pursuits, and she’s always striving for the absolute best! By wearing our pieces, she is able to display her empowerment and show the world just how phenomenal she is. Our first collection ever is titled “Riüted” and draws inspiration from the definition “strong and difficult to destroy”. Here we introduce the brand with bold colors, striking Ankara prints inspired by my West African roots and unique silhouettes, laying the foundation of what is more to come of POSH.FEM.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My parents of course. My cousin/assistant Almariam, she’s been there with me from Day 1 taking POSH.FEM as her own brand and helping me bring my vision to life, time & time again. I am forever grateful to her. My boyfriend Ony who has always pushed me to always go big with my dreams and execution. Any doubt I’ve ever had, he was always there to dispel them. Definitely my backbone/sister Matu, family & friends. They’ve shown me endless amount of love and support. Shoutout to my cousin MJ as well for even putting the word in for me.
