So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all began when I was at a Taco Mac location one night in 2009 exploring their beer menu, saw a beer by Stone Brewing “Arrogant Bastard” and sounded interesting, so I went with it and it intrigued me. Ordered some in at work and week by week began bringing new craftbeers.
I created social media pages to notify customers on a weekly basis, it began catching a following year after year, soon after, we created a huge following and began gaining a reputation of having one of the best selections in town and now we have gained national recognition for becoming a destination store.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s always a constant challenge being able to land new craftbeer arrivals on time, if we don’t get shipments same week as they start shipping to stores, demand drops within a week. We have to stay on top of new arrivals, ensure quality service to clients, engage on social media and notify as soon as an event is about to take place or an arrival of a new product line or brewery launch.
Always been ups and downs, Biggest ordeal is scoring the right allocation at the right time. Us beer drinkers like to go where good beers are.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sprayberry Bottle Shop – what should we know?
I am a Marketing Director at Sprayberry Bottle Shop. I operate with and manage vendors, run social media, market for our establishment, manage employees and serve clients all in one. I’ve always specialized in marketing for the past 10 years. I’ve been known to trend set brands all across Georgia, I have a nick name “Hype Guru” now. I take brands and hype them up and create more demand state wide thru social media (Facebook and Instagram).
I’m most proud of our 1 on 1 connection with every client that walks in, we are a destination store with a mom and pop vibe. We make everyone feel like one big happy family, because we truly are!
Our service and quality level of knowledge and product set us apart from everyone today. Without support from our loyal customers, we wouldn’t be able to be at this stage today. We thank them for their support everyday.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My clients deserve all the credit we can give them. Without their support, we wouldn’t reach to this stage. My family/parents (Ashok and Nayna) who are original buyers/owners of Sprayberry Bottle Shop deserve most credit too, without their support and guidance from the beginning, I wouldn’t be able to be at this stage today.
They have always been great mentors and partners at our family owned business.
My sister Kim has also always been a great supporter and cheered me on.
